Maybe he couldn't do anything with the thin gangly build he had and Sure he was unfortunate with the ankle, but to me he always looked fragile. I think of him as a "graceful" player with nice skills, not an all time great. Injuries prevent players from all time greatness. Better than Ray? No, he also had Duke's hype machine (ESPN) going for him much more so than Ray did (his mother and father had more air time than Ray) as pointed out by Dickie V.
