makes sense. If its a fracture (which is what the doctors said) without any piece breaking off, then they immobilize it and wait for the bone to fuse (which is consistent with the 6-8 weeks - the doctors have no reason to mislead). If a piece broke off then they would need to operate and install a plate etc to hold it all together while the bone heals over (which most likely would be season over).

Thanks for that. The hyperextension is very evident in the slo-mo replay as her left foot slips on the court a few inches and her knee locks up.

As a non-medical person, this is difficult to follow. It seems to me, there is a difference between a fracture, even a hairline fracture, and a bruise. So, I interpret this message as saying, even though they are calling it a fracture, it must only be a bruise because of the timeline. I'm not sure how this Doctor is making that determination without access to the actual diagnostics.

You answered your own question, because of the timeline. Paige isn't coming back from a TB fracture in 6 to 8 weeks.

For me what it’s called is irrelevant since I don’t have the knowledge to understand the terms.
I just interpret his comments as “ahh, I know what this is and it doesn’t need surgery and is (relatively) good news.”

Who are these people? No credentials are visible in the tweets.

Burns is listed as a healthcare professional on his Twitter feed, though I admit I can't prove that.

So bone can heal itself in just a couple of months? I mean enough to put heavy stress on the healed part?

At least the guy I quoted is an orthopedist with experience in high level athlete sports injuries.

1st guy in your tweet does not seem to be a HCP and the 2nd guys bio just says “health care”.

At the end of the day this is all just speculation. Only her doctors and those close to her know her case specifically. I trust that staff will make all decisions with her best interests in mind, and she won’t be back on the court until she’s fully healed.

Read the Hartford Courant article posted in another thread. Good information.

Ah yes, Black in Amerikka, that well known medical expert.

How do you trust someone that can’t spell America correctly?

The tweet I was referencing was not from that person, but his/her tweet came attached.

i think the 6-8 weeks is not specific enough. Is it 6-8 weeks ot heal or 6-8 weeks to be ready to play? I doesn't specify if the that time is inclusive to any theropy or getting back in basketball shape. I think Geno's statement about doing the right thing for her as opposed to getting her back on the court as soon as possible might be in referrence to making sure she is not only fully healed but is ready to play before putting her on the court.

Everyone should know that PB has a molecular structure like Wolverine. Duh! She will be back sooner than a NY minute.
I’m optimistic that her doctors will decide what’s best for her and when she should return. Godspeed, PB!

I clicked on the link to the article and it directed me to a sale the Courant is having. I signed up for a six month subscription for one dollar. I've done that for the last couple of years and unsubscribed when the six months are up. I have access to all the articles for the rest of the season.
