Amida playing very well in the G League with possibly being named the G League's Defensive Player of the Year. Here's a good video of him dominating Diamond Stone.

Look for Amida similar to Rodney and Hamilton to make an NBA roster soon. Cavaliers probably the best landing spot for him. What Dan Hurley could have done with Amida. Dude is a physical specimen wasted by Ollie.

What JC could have done with that talent!

Rodney scored 18 points in a NBA game the other day. Brimah may be defensive player of the year in the G league. Add in Hamilton, and Adams, who will play in the G league or better, and UConn had ample talent in the last few years.

How is it Ollie's fault Brimah couldn't catch passes or make a single successful post-move against AAC centers? Think this is one where we should just be happy that a definitive late-bloomer had a nice college career with some championships and iconic moments and is now having a nice G league season

How is it NOT ? Yeah, "late bloomer". That's the ticket.

Could not agree more! Same with with Purvis right? Struggled at UConn but was also the definitive late bloomer. If Ollie had any fault at all it was his tendency to recruit definitive late bloomers. Really just bad luck.

Rodney will credit KO with his development n getting into the league. KO always emphasized defense with RP. It's his ticket to the league n it is. Now Dan Hurley had five 4 stars recruits in the past 5 yrs. None will be going to the NBA. Talking about waste talent n being grossly overrated in ones coaching skill

Notice how much more strongly he goes to the basket (2 minute mark). This is something missing from the Huskies. Bigs attacking the rim. Nice to see.

Notice that he didn't post up once in those highlights?

AB is a incredibly valuable basketball player when you put him in positions to succeed. He is a plus defender and a great rim runner with athleticism.

Somehow, KO posted him up to start every game and every 2nd half. He literally ran more post up plays for Brimah than for Shonn Miller.

Glad Brimah is being put in positions to succeed and I expect him to get some run in the NBA eventually.

This is funny. How dare you expect your big man to post up, or even be able to get a jump hook off never mind to the rim? What's a coach thinking trying to get his 5 man a look at the basket early? LOL

That highlight reel shows little to differ from the guy who played here by the way. He was real good against Coppin State too but at least Coppin State tried to play defense. He's a decent rim protector and we saw a few wide open dunks but you guys are priceless thinking that product on this video proved anything at all. Did we see him make a jump hook? Did we see if Diamond Stone shouldered himself in for easy buckets? No it was a highlight reel people relax - I love the KO haters jumping on stupid crap like this. Leave it alone you got your wish he's gone. Root for Hurley not against the past.

JC got a number of guys to the league who quickly flamed out. It was apparent that he got out of those guys much more than they innately had to offer.

With KO we're seeing the opposite -- guys flourishing away from UConn. How else are we supposed to interpret it, if not KO failing to get the most out of his players?

He looks good happy for him. But this thread is stupid there was NO defense to speak of in any of his dunks so let’s not get crazy.
Yeah, looks the same Brimah to me. Lots of alley oop dunks, a few blocks, and running the court like a gazelle. Otherwise pretty much the same person with no post game to speak of. I did like his one pass to the guard across the court from the post. I don't think I ever saw that from him as he was a black hole when he got it to him there. Good for him no matter what happens as he does have some skill even if it is very limited.

I wouldn't post up Cobb or Diarra or Whaley either. Hell, Andre was a disaster in the league when SVG insisted upon feeding him in the post. So's DeAndre Jordan, so's Dwight (though to a lesser extent), so are a bunch of guys who we rightly consider to be amongst the best centers in the NBA.

Some guys just do not have the skillset, mau. It doesn't matter how big they are. Ollie's insistence that Brimah did was utterly ridiculous, and led to countless wasted possessions and live-ball turnovers.

It's not the kid's failure. It's the coach's.

Andre is being used really nicely this year. Rim runs, dunks, put backs, and any time hes more than 5 ft from the hoop, hes looking for the handoff. Love what hes doing

Thought the same thing. Also, the guy looked FAAAST running up the court. I mean, really fast. Did not look like the same player who played for us for 4 years. Super happy for the kid. Was always all heart.

That's a nice thing for Rodney to do, particularly given it's not true.
D to get to the league? Very odd take dude.
