85/86 Hilltop Ellsworth 9th - it was just Hale & Ellsworth up there back in the day
86-89 Delta Chi House (8 Gilbert Road) & worked in CrandallA kitchen for 3 years as well. Both torn down for the new South Campus dorms.

At what point were Frats & the Jungle's become North & Northwest? It would be one thing to lose the names due to large donations - but to lose history to the points on a compass is lame.

Yeah I remember being told (08-12) they discourage the name "jungle" so as to somehow dissociate the crazy history from the dorm.

I remember hearing about how all the buildings were once connected and thinking how absolutely insane that would be today.

So the frats were next to North? I was the first class with with the new Northwest and it was all freshmen, there wasn't even grass on the quad yet. I guess it makes sense that it is not only freshmen anymore since it is one of the nicer dorms and that is unfair to everyone else. I lived in New London for a year and no one really called it the jungle, I guess the name just died off.

2000 was the first year Frats moved to all freshman and became dry, along with the new cafeteria and renovated dorms. I think the name northwest was pinned at this time. In 2001, the jungle went dry, which changed the culture a bit. Most still referred to it as the jungle. I graduated in 2004, but I would think by 2005-2006 very few students were still around who recall the old atmosphere. Another important moment in time was the banning of kegs in carriage house starting in 2001.

When I lived there, the Jungle was infested with roaches. On the weekend we would have a party, everyone would grab a shoe, turn off the lights, wait a couple of minutes turn on the lights and see how many roaches we could kill.

Northwest in 05-06, then I got to Hilltop Apartments my sophomore year because a friend I had that was a senior pulled me in.

I think I might have been the only sophomore in the Apts.

I moved off campus into a $hitty house on north eagleville for my junior and senior years.

They had an RA per floor. This was an old, single room on the first floor, just inside the door. Had a huge walk-in closet and a bathroom. The only downside, it was right next to the stairwell. Not fun being woken up 100x a night when I had to get up at 5:45 and drive to Glastonbury to student teach every morning.
