another off-season topice since we've now got quite a few

1st Team:
Kia Wright (St Johns)
Kennitra Johnson
EDD (Delaware)
Samarie Walker (Kentucky)
Liz Sherwood (Vanderbilt)

that's a pretty good team!

2nd team:
Marci Glenney (Clemson)
Kiana Robinson
Michala Johnson (Wisconsin)
Jess McCormack
Tammy Arnold (Oregon St)

3rd team:
Amy Hughes (Xavier), Shea Matlock (Ga Tech), Sue Mayo (Wake Forest)
Rashidat Sadiq (Oklahoma St), Jean Clark (TAMU-Corpus Christi), Kristen Phillips (Richmond)

======================

And then there's the All-Almost team -- the players that either decommitted or had UConn in their final 2 or 3

1st Team:
Nikki Blue (UCLA)
Semeka Randall (Tenn)
Chiney Ogumwike (Stanford)
Nneka Ogumwike (Stanford)
Courtney Paris (Oklahoma)

2nd Team:
Jacki Gemelos (USC)
Abby Waner (Duke)
Angie Bjorklund (Tenn)
Laura Harper (Maryland)
Gillian Goring

I'm sure I've forgotten a few other "almost"s.

Dee Davis, Vandy. Folks don't know how close Geno was to getting that talented young woman.

Sarah Hammond, Louisville
Think UConn was a finalist for Jessica Foley, Duke, maybe Allison Vernery as well. Cam would know.

There was a kid (last name Mabrey?) that gave a verbal to UConn then a week later committed again to Rutgers (I think) but then signed her LOI for Florida. She ended up transferring somewhere else eventually (somewhere in Texas?).

Thanks Nan. OH and I forgot Cappie! She'd go 1st team, displacing Blue.

Another: Chelsey Lee.

UConn was able to make late inroads with Chiney Oqumike and be in the final 3 with Stanford and Notre Dame, but UConn was never anywhere close to the final 2 or 3 for Nneka.

Not to be picky, but you have to enroll in order to transfer. Was thinking about Kia Wright and EDD in that regard.

IIRC Kia did enroll and therefore had to sit out a year at St. Johns, even though her enrollment was only for summer classes.

On the other hand, EDD might have to be on the All-Almost team. Her stay at UConn was about as long as an official visit, and though she did a walk-through of a couple of classes I believe the announcement at the time of her departure was that she would not enroll.

Scotter is right about Nneka. Chiney really liked Geno, but couldn't pass up the Stanford education.

That first team of transfers would be a top 5 team.

Not sure about the almosts. Goring's career was just Ok. I want to wait to see what Hammond does. Not sure about Lee.

What about Erica Arriaran? Jewell Loyd? Theresa Borton?

Not that it matters much at this point, but I thought that Elena enrolled and attended classes for 2 days. Or was she on campus before classes started?

I don't think McCormack qualifies as a transfer. Where does Hunter fit?

She had to get a release from Geno, and she had to sit out a year, so that's a transfer in my book.

JMac enrolled for a full semester, though she was both ineligible and injured. I'd count her as a transfer.

Yeah, she chose UConn and signed her letter of intent. Even if not technically a transfer she still doesn't qualify as a player UConn missed on.

Didn't Erlana Larkin (may have spelling wrong) verbally say she wanted to come to us when she was a high school freshman, but ended up at North Carolina and eventually went to the WNBA. A PG from MA verbally committed to us then backed out and went to BC which opened up a scholarship for Sue Bird.

Bernice Mosby (Baylor) and I believe Brittany Rayburn (Purdue) should be on the list.

I don't know about anyone else but every time I cross the title to this thread I almost panic thinking the entire team went to Wisconsin with Michala.

That's "all team transfer" not "all transfer team.". :). Maybe a hyphen would help.
