Who ya got? I'd say Ricky Moore, Henefeld, Burrell, Okafor, and Thabeet. There are many others you could include as well, but I'll stick with these guys for now

For now (Boat could join next year, especially since the team needs another guard):

Moore, DePriest, Henefeld, Freeman, Okafor

Boat would replace Henefeld, who would get the bump for only being here one year.

I was tempted to put Boat, but I would like him to sustain his level (for the most part) over a whole season. If you go by tournaments, Roscoe could be in the discussion as well

Boat gets in for timing, he was great when it counted……with Ricky for sure.

Then Lyman DePriest, Nadav Henefeld, Donyell Marshall, Okafor and Thabeet…….Josh Boone was pretty good too……..

Henefeld is an interesting one.

He has 138 steals in his one season.

In 2014, Napier and Boatshow had 134 steals. Combined.

I maybe am on an island with Freeman, but I thought he was a huge part of that title team's defense (along with Ricky obviously - and Jake too). He would guard the post well, giving up size and pounds, and he'd also step out and take tough assignments like Ron Artest and Michael Redd. He totally locked those guys down in big spots. Plus, he had the tough job on the Elton Brand double teams, having to come with a hard double and recover out to shooters. He was in the DePriest mold of being able to guard multiple positions.

Thabeet
Oak
Burrell
DePriest
Ricky

You could swap Henefeld for Scotty. Scotty was more athletic, Henefeld anticipated better.

Donyell used to SWAT everyone...add Ricky, Okafor, then I'm open...sounds like people are going with Boat and Henefeld...

Any all UConn all defensive team HAS to start with Ricky, Lyman and Emeka.

Thabeet could play, but it would be as Okafor's backup. Okafor redefined the center spot at UConn.

Lyman Depriest held Shaq in check and shut down Dana Baros for crying out loud. Defending the hottest shooting guard and the most dominant center in the game? The ONLY reason there are suggested teams that don't include him is that there are too damned many youngsters whose memories don't reach back to 1988 here.

Ricky. See Allen Iverson. And for the 4 or 5 plays he switched to him on 3/31/99, see that Alaskan Assassin fellow. Check with Schoonie Penn. See also the top scorer on every team we faced in '98/'99.

After that, Boat's tournament performance certainly elevates him to Ricky's easy backup.

But if this team's really going to defend, we need a tall wing with the mobility to check his man and block offside shots in the paint. That man's name is Donyell Marshall.

And we need a quick guard that's a bit taller than the Ricky/Boat tandem. We need KO, dammit.

Using their entire career as the yardstick, Okafor, Moore and DePriest are givens. After those three you can make cases for Donyell, Scotty, Henefeld and KFree.

Henefeld was beyond out tanding at stealing passes. As an on ball defender he was only average s he wouldn't makemy team.
