“We’re going to get that championship,” Williams said Monday at Geno Auriemma’s annual Fore The Kids charity golf tournament. “People are going to feel UConn. We’re going to win the national championship.”You don’t see a difference between a play predicting a championship in the future versus saying they would have won a championship in the past? One is confidence or hubris. The other is somewhat delusional and disrespectful.
Hey, the article is fine. As someone pointed out, it’s pretty typical for this sorry of thing. But it’s not above criticism. South Carolina has been criticized for many quarters for its incessant talk about “winning” last year’s championship. No other team has done that. The criticism is fair and, frankly, entirely to be expected.
No, I don’t see any particular difference. At least Boston is speaking based on a completed season in which the team was (or was going to be) the #1 overall seed.
Look, as a SC fan, I want nothing more than to move on from last year. I wish they’d stop talking about it, too. It adds pressure and it’s not a topic that’s going anywhere anyway, since it’s not like the 2020 championship is going to be played. But some of the comments on here seem a bit jaded.
