22 and 18 is a monster game. Congrats to AO. I may be in the minority, but I wish him well and will always appreciate his contributions during the 2010-11 title run.

I appreciate anyone who can and does respect what he did in order to bring JC and the Husky fans a 3rd NC. He did no doubt help in those runs. Maui and the tourney's he was pretty good. The regular Big East season he almost lead us to the NIT with his 6 & 4 a game but that's besides the point!!...........

My point is he came off that season and single handedly ruined any chemistry for a pretty good basketball team with his tweets, his disrespect of his coach and staff while not showing the least amount of interest when on the court because he wasn't getting the ball or the PT he felt he deserved. His consistent "jogging" back on D and ole' defense was enough to make us puke yet he gets the "that's okay he helped us win #3".......I call BS as we already know and the fact he ruined OUR HOF coaches last year because of his whining, his dad and his baby antics makes me want this guy to all over himself every time he hits the court for Mizzou........

Imagine he got the ball a few times early yesterday and decided to play hard the whole game? More proof of how he is such a piece of the fact he got 18 rebounds finally and only because he was getting touches and scoring otherwise he's not a fighter for his teammates - typical....................I feel better now! Thanks............:D

Just let him go. He contributed to our last NC and he needed to move on. The feeling was mutual. Lets look forward to what this team may do next year and beyond with Coach Ollie.

Good idea.....I'm done;)

Good luck to Alex and I'm glad to see he is doing big things. I am hurt by the transfers, but can not blame any of the kids who did. The University and NCAA have failed them. We're getting wins, Alex is getting wins. It all worked out in the end

Okay I'm not done.....how did the university "fail" Alex? Please give me a break..........

By not focusing on their APR for the past 5+ years and getting banned from post season play....?

What did he do for the Huskies last year as a player well before he know where the team was headed as far as APR? He let down you, me, JC and his teammates as a dog!! just like Syracuse!

Did AO reject your prom invite? He got us a championship and is a good kid. He may have a bit of an attitude but he never caused any real problems for the team (like stealing laptops ) and is well liked by all of our players even after the transfer

BS and the laptop kids, AJ and Marcus were much better Huskies in my books. You don't have to agree and I'm good with that but this guy was a "cancer" through and through!!! Nice way to help end a HOF career - yeah great kid.

so bitter....you should lighten up. all of those negative thoughts on a man who helped bring a chip to storrs

Yeah I'll lighten up alright. You continue to put him on that pedestal and I'll continue to hope he ts himself and we'll both be fine. I'm not bitter I've just been a Husky fan longer than you and know who is a Husky and who isn't!!! One season does not make nor does a NC necessarily!!

.-.
how long have you been a UConn fan? interesting that you would gather that out of my post ...insecure it seems

Insecure? And you gathered that how? My bad and seriously I respect the fact you thought the guy was good for us, I'm fine with that. But you don't need to agree with me and in that sense that doesn't mean I need to "lighten up" okay? I'm good with my thoughts on him and the Huskies from the late 60's on......it is rare for me to "dislike" any Husky ever never mind one who helped bring a flag to Storrs. I have my thoughts, reasons and you have yours, all good? Move on........because I won't LOL.....now I'm just kidding!!;)

your anger is not healthy. ive only been watching the team since 97 so i cant speak for greats like tate and donyell but alex played incredibly for us in 2011, went to class, and was loved by our players, coaches, and fans so i honor him as a great husky. badmouthing him for going somewhere to compete in the last tournament of his life is hateful and immature

Wow forget I tried for the truce........yeah he was loved by his players and coaches alright. And you calling me immature just became pretty funny since you obviously know little about anything. But hey it was great talking to you and stay healthy!!

Oriakhi was a key part to the 2011 NC. He played some great games his sophomore year. He was fairly bad the other two years.

He would have been well regarded by everyone if his father and he had just kept their complaints private. That's all he ever needed to do.

There is a reason many regard Roscoe with less venom than Oriakhi. Both were mediocre last year and Roscoe really could have come back to UConn and played in another NCAAT here. If anything his transfer made less sense than Alex's. As far as I know Roscoe has not said a bad word about UConn, Calhoun or anyone on the team in public. He has simply kept his thoughts private.

Everyone would have understood if Alex has simply said he wanted a shot at winning another NCAAT Championship, but he didn't, he has gone out of his way in every interview to express his opinion on UConn, Calhoun and the players that are on the team. He hasn't said one positive thing about UConn since he left.

If he had kept his mouth shut, almost everyone here would be rooting for him to make the NBA and Missouri might have been adopted as UConn's team for this year's NCAAT. Now most people hope he fails and has to learn Russian.

Oriakhi reminds me of Benedict Arnold. Actually, he's Benedict Arnold reincarnated with worse hands, no post skill, and he's a terrible leader.

.-.
I don't really have anything against Alex - made sense to transfer. Tyler, Wolf and DD need the minutes. I can't really root for him though - too much backbiting from his camp and too many quotes from Missouri that are passive-aggressive ("so nice to be a part of a team that's a family" sort of things).

As for the thread - terrific game for him. Good to see him put a full 40 together. And he looked like a total in that little dust-up. I mean, epic. I laughed at him, and I don't even have anything against him.

Tate was far from great. There are at least 10 guards who were/are better over the past 30 years... Tate hit one huge shot and was drafted in part due to that shot.

Husky, if that was all Alex did I would join you in his nomination for sainthood. Unfortunately that isn't case. His exit from UConn was unseemly to say least, mostly due to his father's comments, that were not rebuked. I think most in the post are pretty reasonable. They appreciate what he did for us in the 2011 run, but do not appreciate how he left. That's reasonable and fair, in my view.

You could argue he hit two huge shots. Maybe we get to the level we got eventually anyway, but I wonder if Burrell comes without seeing the state get caught up in hoops fever over the NIT (I think Smitty had already signed by then). Maybe he doesn't - maybe the Dream Season never happens, maybe JC is let go. Who knows. But a first round loss to West Virginia would have put us on a different arc.

Great is probably too strong a word, other than in a Hartford Courant headline which was made into t-shirts, but he does have his place in UConn lore. Not only for that moment, but for his senior leadership in a transformative season.

^This +1,000. And because of this, AO has earned the criticism (and some of the venom) he has gotten on this board. Therefore, I have no problem with these threads. It's not bitterness. It's not jealousy. It's the way he (and his father in particular), have badmouthed the coaches and the program I love.

He could have done the right thing and taken the higher road. He didn't. Therefore, he might as well be Chrissy Laettner.
