Having a good game against Mississippi then gets tied up when boxing out and goes down. While on the ground, he reaches out and grabs an opponent by the ankles and then kid goes down and all hell broke loose. Alex will never have a career as a boxer and should get tossed out of the game.

Very stupid play, but he's having a monster game. 21 points, 16 rebounds.

Yeah whatever . Too bad he couldn't step up to the "Royce White " challenge like that last year.

Alex Oriakhi plays for Missouri...why do UConn fans talk about him so much? Don't get it.

Why? Because we can't help but think that no matter how inconsistent he is, no matter how bad he is on certain nights, even when he's at his worst our team would be different and much better compard to what we have now. He wouldn't have to have a monster game to make us very good. 10 points, 7-8 rebounds and 3 blocks is plenty. We all want us to be better and our minds can't help but going there.

Had to cringe when i saw him "shadow boxing" and stepping back and hiding behind others as the thing escalated. He is pure chump - as his father - a boy in a mans body. If JC does anything for him to help him play anywhere but at the loacl Y after this year I will be so disappointed in JC. He belongs on that Mizzou team - they are under achieving street ballers

Oriakhi made himself look very bad when he tripped an Ole Miss player and started preparing to fight. He looked a lot like Stephan Jackson during the Malice at the Palace.

However, if boneyarders are going to on him every time he has a bad game, it's only fair that you all give him some credit when he plays like a monster like he did today. Say what you want about his inconsistency, but there aren't too many big men in college basketball who can get you 22 points and 18 rebounds in a given game. Anybody who doesn't think this team would be exponentially better with Oriakhi on the team is simply fooling themselves.

I want to let the kid get on with his life. The above poster is correct that the folks here are like 14 year olds who have been dumped and are now tracking every facebook post. Get over it. Get on with it. It smacks of petty to see a thread go up every time the guy has a game. Ha ha. The new boyfriend dumped her. Ha ha.

Responding to your post, we're 15 and 6 without him, and we've been in every game except one. Not only do I not agree that we'd be "exponentially" better with him, my money would be on "not even a game better, and probably worse, based on his negative impact on other players."

As for me, personally, I developed a distaste for the Nigerian Nasty last season, after his tweets, and I'd much rather cheer for Wolf or even (gulp) Olander. At least they're busting ass out there.

Last year, with AO, and Roscoe, and AD, and Lamb, as well as Shabazz, we were 20-14. If we go 3 and 6 the rest of the way we're 18 and 12, and that result would be better than we did with the Mumu on board.

So I'd like to forget about him, and Mizzou can keep him, and, if not, you can take him home.

He didn't just transfer, he trashed the place and his Hall of Fame coach on the way out the door. Yeah it's a little excessive, but wanting to see him fall on his face is not unnatural.

Funny I guess you're right......they would be "exponentially better" on the 4 nights he showed up like this all season, on the others he would get the same treatment as TO and EW period.......this is the one in 7 or 8 games he feels like running up and down the court and working hard. The rest is...........what we saw!!!

Well, I'm taking the stance I've chosen to take under the assumption that, much like 2010-11, he would have a good attitude. If he pouted all year like he did last season, then I agree, his impact would probably be more negative than positive.

But let's leave all the personal distaste for the guy out of it, and judge him on what he provides on the court. Statisically, he's easily having the best season of his career, putting up 11 points a game (58% shooting) to go along with 8 rebounds and a block and a half. During his sophomore year at UConn he put up virtually the same stat line (ten points, nine rebounds, 1.6 blocks), except he played four more minutes a game, and shot 51% from the field instead of 58%. Bascially, he's a more efficient version of the kid who was occasionally the second best player on a National Championship team.

The fact that this team has played so many close games is precisely why I believe we would be so much better with him. Think of how many times we've been mauled in the paint and on the glass. Now think of how many times the brilliance of our guards has counter-acted the beatings we've taken inside. Add an NBA body in Oriakhi to this team, and not only does limit the countless amount of second chance points we've given up this year, but it also takes pressure of our guards to rebound, meaning we can get out in the open court more. As we know, a few rebounds here and there is the difference between this team beating good teams and coming up just short.

I always found him a hard kid to like and now that he's burned every bridge back to UConn, I don't like him at all. Not that I need to explain myself to anyone here, but I was flipping channels today and came across the game, saw the incident and thought that some people here would get a kick out of it. Would I do it again at the risk of offending someones tender sensibilities, sure.

Bottom line, if the posts subject is clearly labeled and you don't care for the subject; you don't have to open it.

We would only be better if he had a heart. I've tried to stay away from dissing the guy. He was part of our NC team, a big part. The way he left put a bad taste in many mouths around here. I can understand the venom.

Alex and family came to Conn thinking he had his ticket punched. 3 years and gone. A Sure thing. I understand the frustration. Parents have a long legacy of over the top antics pimping their kids. It happens everywhere

. Tiger Woods, the William sisters, coaches like Mike Dunleavy. Not every parent is like Bobby Knight and throws chairs at his kid on national TV just for the Frick of it because he's Bobby fricking Knight and who the hell are you to fricking say a fricking word.

Anyone who is a true fan of UConn basketball can forgive Alex's act of treason, but forgetting is another thing...

I have to admit I feel good for him on the stats, I just don't feel good about feeling good for him.

Thing is, once in a while Alex finds an open box of Wheaties and plays like a champion.
However most of the time, he can't figure out which end is up much less how to open the box.

I love the AO threads. I think the people who keep whining about them should just skip the thread. it's an easy enough thing to do. about 25% of the posts in this thread are variations on "what is the deal with all the AO threads and posts". Pretty funny, really.
