Wow I was shocked by that. Did not even know he had cancer. He's one of my favorite British actors. So sad!

Rickman was a great villain - I think he defines the word "sneer" for me. RIP Gruber, Marston, and Snape !

Actually, this is a misquote/mistranslation from the source (Plutarch) but it's a wonderful saying that I believe has some currency in the UK and a fantastic line as read by Rickman.

He was one of the great, dyed-in-the-wool villainous actors in the business.
