Akok on Pace to Enroll

Good News
He needs to hit the books, weight room and the practices

It might have something to do with the fact that he's listed at 195 lbs?
I know it's just the eye test, but I really doubt Akok 195, he does need to get bigger. But his skill alone puts him in another tier than our bigs.

this is why the sid at the 4 argument doesn't work either- he weighs 20 lbs less than akok. hopefully akok is at 215 to start next season.

We've seen a lot of kids with "skills" fizzle at many programs so until he steps on the court and plays against guys who are bigger, stronger and quicker I will reserve comments of his skills. Tall kids in HS look better against the comp.
I do agree, he probably is better than anyone we can throw into the 5 or big 4 spots right now
I wish MD would come back from the injury status

Has been around the team? Work outs? Practices? What are the rules with this?

I work on campus. I've been told he cannot participate in any way until he starts classes; I was also told last week that he is not expected to arrive on-campus until weekend of January 19/20; classes begin on January 22. He is still classified as a recruit until he attends classes.

Thank you!

I’m just happy to have guys coming in where their highlight tapes aren’t solely from pregame layup lines.

I’ll take improvements in one area at a time.

That being said, Sal and Akok need to become best friends and do karate in the Garage or something.

Because we like to fantasize and hope for the possibility and that he plays this year and plays- and oh yeah one more thing - Our front court is probably bottom 20!worst in the country. No joke. That’s why

I can get 3 inches off the ground.

But my elbows can reach the jaw of a 6' 8" player

In the immortal words of college color guy Bucky Waters (talking about John Pinone), I don't think you could clear a Sunday newspaper.

If Akok was 20-30 lbs heavier of muscle he would’ve been a top 20 prospect.

He is 6'10" and 195

I'm 6'2" and 198.....either I'm super fat or he is super thin

He's not 195 any more. 205+ about a month ago. Still has chicken legs

Goal is 220 by next year. Concerns about injury. Has wonky running form and some weird mobility issues.

Between him and polley, should have shooters at the 4 spot, which is good. Hopefully appealing to a grad big man

Weird way of saying "I agree," but ok.

Sal and a physio should be his 2 best friends starting Jan 20. Speaking of which, why can't he enroll in one of those 'intersession' classes and get him on the court

Diarra most likely won't play basketball anymore, his knees are shot. Sad.

Just thought that if we are lucky enough to pull tre and Q. We could be back to our normal long and strong front court with Akok at the 3.

That's good to hear. But Polley's "shooter" status has been suspect the past couple of games. When his confidence is low you can see it in his face and it reflects in his playing. Hopefully Akok can do the opposite.

I thought he was expected to return later this month or early next, no? Did a recent re-evaluation conclude otherwise, or are you speculating?
