AK is back - are we not done with Portal ?

Are we not entertained? (sorry, title screamed Gladiator to me).

  • 3rd C in case of injury
  • A PF backing up AK - Stew and Ross kind of tweeners on PF/SF so likely a bruiser

At 12 is about as much as we can do without 100% pine riding.

It would be nice but The transfer big doesn’t need the ability to play the 4 anymore since Alex will be getting 30mpg and Stew will get the other 10mpg.

We do need a 3rd string C behind Reed and Reibe tho. Reed is prone to foul trouble and Reibe is a frosh. A guy like Singare would be great.

That would bring us to 11. Finally I’d like a 3rd string PG since we only have 2 on the roster and it’s onto #7.

.-.
I hope Miller is still in play. There is something dynamic about having a battery of the 4/5 positions with

Karaban Miller Reed Reibe

yep another big. Rim protector who is a strong rebounder would do nicely.
My newest backup big interest, Malcolm Wilson of Queens (NC).

Remember him from Georgetown? He landed at Queens and finished last season as the Big South Defensive Player of the Year, finishing the season averaging 5.2p, 5.5r, 3.3b(!!!) per game in just 22 minutes per game. 7'0 215.

Proven at the mid-major level and I'm sure he'll be hungry to get another NIL check in the Big East, even if his PT is modest, at best.

Another big is NEEDED. One injury, then the healthy center gets in foul trouble? We have no options lol. It would be terrible roster building by Danny to not get another one.

Still seems we need a quality big to be on the bench, and anyone else ?
Another Guard preferably a PG. We still don't know if Demary is back as he is testing the draft.

.-.
He's playing for us. At least his dad sure seems to think he is.

He said he's not entering the draft if he's not a first rounder. He's not a first rounder.

Yeah I heard the interview with that religious nut that interviewd him. I know he is just trying to get a better idea of his draft stock. Either way it would be nice to have a 3rd PG as both Demary and Smith could be gone after this upcoming year.

Need a guy you can put at the 5 for 10-12 minutes a game without it being a liability. Could be a 4/5 if Reibe is going to contribute in the 5 spot. With AK back there won't be a to of minutes at the 4 beyond him and Ross.

If you don't think Reed can stay effective without getting into foul trouble for 30 minutes a game, and Reibe can hold his own for at least one Klaiber, then you need another big body to give you 10-12.

I think Stewart will play more minutes at the 4 than Ross. I really don't see Ross playing much especially with Mullins having to get minutes at the 3 too. I didn't even include the Australian wing who also could be better than Ross. Ross is going to really have to improve his game from what we saw especially getting a more consistent outside shot if he expects to get any minutes.

Reed averaged like 2.7 fouls a game - I think he fouled out of 4 total games including the Memphis debacle. But we need a 3rd C/PF because injuries happen. When Samson Johnson went down @ MSG (Gonzaga game) - Singare was 2nd up, but Johnson came back.

With 11 on the roster, we have less than last year but 2 more spots max than last year per NCAA changes.

Stewart should start at 3; Furphy is his backup and Mullins is Ball's backup or 3rd guard.

We need two more players. One a legit 6’8 or better, and a big defensive minded guard. Time to start playing waves of players to press and trap more. Love the offense but need a few easy buckets here and there. No need to play guys 35 minutes, keep them fresh. Good insurance if J. Stew and Ross don’t make the leap we all hope for.

I'm pretty sure that there are still 1,100 or so names in the portal. Finding an emergency five, an emergency one and another body or two at two/three or three/four so we can have quality practices wont be impossible.

There will be some kids willing to take a very small role here to be part of this team (and be coached by this staff) without needing to see the floor very much in games. We only need a few of them.

I know one of the coaches from Queens, I should ask him about Wilson lol. Queens University of Charlotte, not to be confused with Queens College. They were division 2 until very recently, they were legit at that level.

Edit: I’m not even sure he has eligibility, 6 years of college, maybe he got some medical redshirts

I wouldn't group Jaylin Stewart in the same bucket with Ross. I have way more confidence in Stewart than Ross as we saw Stew step up for us at the end of year. He does have to become more consistent. I hope Ross can find a shot but I can't see where he will be getting any minutes on next year's team unless he really improves. He didn't show anything to me this past year and his minutes at the end of the year unfortunately reflected that. I would love to be proven wrong about Ross though.

We need 2 more quality players for hurley practice sessions. Can’t worry if it upsets Ross. Ross will need to earn his minutes and i think he will improve dramatically. The roster is high quality. 1-2 more key portal guys and would be championship caliber.
