The cross-over, baby!

As much as she likes it home in CT, she must have gotten tired of trying to recruit at Hartford. Can't blame her. Should open up a whole new bunch of kids for her to recruit. Best of luck Jen!

We watched her grow up! Go get 'em, Jen!

George Washington Names Jennifer Rizzotti New Head Women's Basketball Coach

Best wishes to this amazing woman, mother, coach, and Hall of Famer

Worth throwing out this quote from the article:

“Obviously, I’m partial. But there are very few people I have met in my life who were born to do this,” said Team USA and University of Connecticut Head Coach Geno Auriemma. “Jen was born to lead people, to set an example for others and to raise young people from who they are to who they want to be. She did that as a player here at UConn, she has done it as a coach at the University of Hartford, she has done it at every level of USA Basketball and she will do it at George Washington University. Jen Rizzotti doesn’t know how to do anything else but lead.”

Congrats Jen! GW is getting a super talented coach. Wish her the very best. I wonder if her husband will be on her staff as he was in Hartford. Also, her young kids will be starting a new life in DC. Wish them all good luck.

Great for Jen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I 'm now going to root for GW!

Hard to beleive she has been at UHart 17 years.

“These kids [GW kids], they understand UConn basketball,” Rizzotti said in a phone interview Friday. “They see it now as relevant in their life. So for them to know that I was a part of that and that I’m looking to build something that’s similar just in terms of setting an example for the kind of people I bring to the program, the kind of character that they have and how they represent themselves on the floor.”

So, I hope they are stoked to have Jen as a coach.

22 years. Over 40 conference titles. 11 National Championships. 6 perfect seasons. Hundreds of plays that made us explode with joy.

But none of them surpass Jen Rizzotti's race to the basket against Tennessee. Success and happiness to the kid with the knee pads. And don't be a stranger...I'd still like you to sign my SI cover.

“It’s appropriate that we’re in the Champions Club,” Nero beamed, “because Jennifer Rizzotti is a champion.”

"Just listening to Patrick Nero listing off all these things, it was like, ‘Wow, this woman is going to lead this team, lead this program,’” GW junior guard Hannah Schaible said of Rizzotti. “I’ve been saying this all day, just so excited. It’s so exciting to see what we’re going to accomplish, how I’m going to get better as an individual, how the team’s going to get better, how this program’s going to get better.”

GW sort of won the lottery in terms of when their job opening occurred - the list of schools that have called Jen in the last decade inquiring if she would be interested is I believe quite extensive and includes places that would be considered even better opportunities - but up until this year I don't believe she has ever considered a move. Timing of the opening and Jen arriving at a time in the life of her family where a move was attractive or even possible meshed.

I really hope she has a very successful tenure there.

I know GW just finished a nice year. How stocked is the cupboard for this upcoming season?
