The link is to Carl's blog.
Highlights: sounds like she may be cleared to play in about a month....that sure sounds like she will
play basketball her senior year. Her Dad was in Storrs for the Geno/USABasketball presser.
We did read a while back that during her current rehab she missed basketball more than track....that sounds like it hasn't changed.

Interesting article on a major talent...hoops and track!

I read this late last night, and noticed the following line in particular - a quote from her father:

I can’t stop her from playing but I want to make sure she at the level she needs to be. So I’ve kind of challenged her and told her, ‘When you can dunk the basketball consistently, you can play."

Well she does have major hops, and she was quoted last week as saying she is already able to grab the rim when jumping off the right [surgically repaired] leg....and this is at the 7-month mark ... also keep in mind she is right-handed, meaning she would normally go in to the lane and jump off the left leg.........

.......So, re: dunking...... I'm just sayin' !!!

Great article..........I loved the part about requiring her to be able to dunk consistently. It's not necessary , but its good to know that she has the strength and confidence in that knee to get up there..... Even one time.

Can you imagine Gabby coming down the open court and throwing one down , and Stewie coming down on the next possession and throwing one down as well.
Its possible.

Gabby will fulfill the image of a skywalker if at 5'11" she makes a true dunk on a breakaway.

Can't wait to see her on the boards...remember that awesome rebound and put back Stewie had in the NC game...where she flew thru u the crowd and snatched the ballto out of the air with one hand seemingly feet above everyone else? What's it gonna look like when Gabby goes in for a rebound with all that vertical she has? Awesome! I read somewhere she was already able to dunk a softball consistently (pre-unjury). Go Huskies!

Dunking variables... please.
You swamp Yankees down there by the other Ocean need to realize that there are other considerations.
Storrs, Conn. even in the lofty height(s) of Horse Barn Hill is... what?.. 600ft in elevation.
Reed High on Baring Blvd is close to 4500ft a.s.l.
Which means the air in Sparks, Nev. (at usual Nevada ambient temperatures) is much thinner than Connecticut... a svelte 5' 11" hoopster would have a lot less air pressure holding her back.
(And the court floor being 4500ft elevation... wouldn't the hoop, obviously, be closer to the ground??)
The Silver City Kid

[All joshing aside... welcome to the fold, Gabby. Go and grab a handful of gold ring(s)]
