This is the first recruiting year where I am feeling old. Boozer's kids, Funches, Ratliffs, Obinna Ekezie's kid, Marcus Spears, Jr., Jason Gardner, Jarvis Hayes. I remember, pretty vividly, watching all of their dad's play in my prime years. Now their kids are here. It's stupid is what it is.

It is the son of Sam.

The writeups for him are good. I started watching one of the games and found it so boring I didn't make it through the first quarter.

I watched 2 of the games, but not his best one (with 15 points) yet.

He was very uninvolved with his team on offense. Barely dribbled--basically got all his points in transition being more athletic than folks and some 1v1 work. It's clear he's not super comfortable with the Euro-style or how to fit in with a team that has more talent. Defensively he was great at the point of attack but really struggled with help defense fundamentals.

Doesnt sound like a perfect fit for Hurley. Obviously stuff he can learn and this is just a couple performances. But we can also use a guy who just knows how to get a bucket outside of the practiced offense schemes. Especially considering big east play and refs.

Not saying you’re wrong but if you watch his HS film it’s very different

lol
if you actually seen him, play live his physicality and aggression and the almost violent way he attacks the basket is actually perfect for the Dan Hurley
t
His midrange game is outstanding and has all the tools to be a great defender
he has nba athleticism great attitude and grest
work ethic
Who knows where his career will go
but he has all the attributes that the Dan Hurley is looking for in a Hs player

He seems to be keeping his cards close to his vest and not really talking up too many schools as broadly as some recruits do. From what I hear he comes from a strong family and has a great support system not to mention he has a good head on his shoulders. With Abdou being a local kid I would love nothing more than to see him play close to home at UConn and become a star. Like many I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Wasn't "all of his points in transition" a common criticism of Solo?

I doubt we would've recruited him if he wasn't local in 24 or 25 classes. I suspect the starf realizer we need some mid-range game and junkyard dogs out there on top of the euro-style we are after mostly

The staff might have overcorrected after the second championship. AJax and Castle were important players despite not being ideal for the system.

Jackson and the #4 player in the class is an interesting comparison lol. I understand your general point though

I was replying to a previous post and the aspect of his play in that comment.

Toure is #12 in the On3.com 2026 recruiting rankings that were updated today.

Btw, what happened to my subject title for this thread? I would never spell his name like that and pretty sure I never did. Can a moderator fix it?
And FWIW, they project him leaning towards Providence over us. Huh?!

Yep agreed. All these nepo babies lol.

Article says his coach is being asked by college coaches if it's worth pursuing him (read that as whether he already knows where he's going). He's picked up major D1 offers in the last week, so the answer is clearly yes.
So in these days of bidding wars, what else can someone say and do? He may know where he’d like to be, all things equal, but more publicity and offers can only help him in negotiating wages even if he knows he’s going somewhere anyway.

Makes one wonder. Is it legal under NIL for a high school coach to receive pay for steering a kid to a certain college? High school coaches can probably be bought very inexpensively.

Definitely not. And probably happening all over anyways.

Keeping quiet is how you up your value. There's lots of schools interested so keep them all guessing........but it would be great to keep the local guy home like with DC.
