2026 Recruiting: Abdou Toure update from aaron torres

So did we...

The jury is out on whether English can coach. But I think it's pretty clear that he can recruit.
Difference is we win titles and have also put those kind of guys in the league. This is English' only case study.

Do you know the story or is this just an ignorant post?

Bryce Hopkins blew out his knee. PC paid him huge NIL to rehab and get healthy. He was ready to go for a tournament in the Bahamas, his team went to PC and said, nope he’s not going to play, because they didn’t trust the court. He then started playing in games after that tournament, on the 3rd game he bruised his other knee. It was a two game injury but now we are 1/3 done for the season and his team pulled the plug on the rest of the year, all the while hiding this fact he was okay to play in order to give him an extra year of NIL. PC continued to honor his over $1mil NIL. This alone hurt team chemistry because everyone knew what was happening. When the season was over PC upped that NIL offer to almost $2mil. He left to go play for that snake Pitino in the same conference for a bit more money after all that we had done for him. He and his “team” deserve everything the PC fan base has for them.
How about the player who had his car egged? Ticket Gaines, I believe? Just passionate fans?

Hey I'm real glad you came over here to lecture us on being nicer to everyone, best of luck this year.

English bombs this year, they are going to run him out of there fast. I don't think Toure is going to PC, but if he does, would really cement this was all about the $$. Cal I get: NBA factory coach, SEC experience, just made the S16, he's not going anywhere, can sell ice to an eskimo. To go play for a coach that the fanbase and AD is already questioning, hmm. A frosh this year isn't going to move the needle for English. Hell, he brought a top 40 kid two years ago that transferred out in a year.
Who is this top 40 kid he brought in to PC that transferred out? The only top 40 kids he has recruited to PC are still on the team. Oswin and Jones.

Take a look at number 38.

I love how in this fairy tale, Big Bad Bryce faked an injury, blew up the team's chemistry, “everyone knew what was happening,” and the story concludes with Providence offering to double his pay anyway.

This is where his imagination takes him to a place where he wants to pour a beer on our heads and make fun of our mother at the Dunk.
Seriously. Not sure how they can act like they’re choir boys after what they did to UCONN fans in 2023 at PC, to which Andrea called them out nationally.

Then UCONN went into PC in ‘24 and demoralized them

How is it known he was OK to play the entire time?

Because he was practicing fully with the team. It’s not just Hopkins and his posse that we are mad at. English let it happen but since he wanted him to stay there was not much he could do, and after all that we got stiffed. You guys are going to hate him too this year, we all are I’m afraid.

. We want PC having good players

Correct because we participated in it.

Can confirm from friends within and close to PC program that this is 100% accurate.

We want as many talented kids coming into the BE as possible so fully agree with this. As of now, there are only a couple schools that are attracting that kind of talent at the HS level. PC is one of them because they are trying and have some $$ to throw around. The back end of the BE isn't getting near these kids (Depaul, SH, Butler). Creighton tends to grab 1-2 of the 40-60 type kids annually. Marquette shops in the bargain section annually. Cooley tries, English tries, Nova may up their game if Willard can get them back. Pitino doesn't even try. We haven't had a ton of NBA talent stream through the BE other than Uconn (Carter, Sorber, a little Marquette). There is no one in the BE currently mocked in the first round other than Mullins.

And of course we want the best for this kid, wherever he goes.
Why does Providence have so much money to throw round?

I think UConn is the surest thing heading into the season along with Houston and Purdue but I think St. John's is the most talented team on paper with the best coach. If Ian Jackson and Darling can give them good point guard play they are the scariest team in the country.

If UConn wanted him, he'd be a Husky. This is no disrespect to Providence or their great fanbase either, but if UConn wanted him, he'd have picked UConn.

I just never saw him as a Husky because he doesn't shoot it well enough to be a plug-and-play guy. But, he's a local (and a great) kid and as an NDWH alum, I wish him all the best.

It’s the new revenue sharing model and the school is committed from the top to the bottom in a commitment to compete at the highest level. Of course the donors are on board too. Pressure in on KE. It’s on him now, everything else is in place. I know we are the little brother but the little brother is giving it everything it has. PC has set records for themselves every year in fundraising in athletics. I’m proud of them.

I think it’s also that we are just completely tired of being also rans and afterthoughts and the new rules allow for schools with a level of commitment like PC to change that perception if it’s important to them and frankly nothing is more important to the school, the donors, and the fans.

True UConn is the Good Standard but SJU has the players and staff to challenge.

You weren’t around for this, but there was a time where guys could be an All-American here, win championships, and be highly prepared to play and succeed at the next level.

Crazy to think all of that could be possible I know. Sorry if I care a lot about the players who come through here being able to be successful in their post career here as well.
I remember when guys stayed 3-4 years even the ones who had oad talent. BTW Castle looked very well prepared for a rookie only playing a year of college ball
