UConn along with Providence, Arkansas, Louisville, Oregon,Florida and Maryland

Shea said Toure has not taken any official visits yet, but he said Providence will be first and UConn will be some time in September in Storrs.

“It came down to the coaches who were most involved and that we think is the best fit for him from a basketball standpoint,” Shea said.

Shea said it has been a long process: he has been on with at least one coach per day since the spring.

“His family is talking to coaches more than that,” Shea said.

Moved to Adidas at exactly the right time. Program is still great
When I was in school CBC was the main program that top CT talent played at.

Kris Dunn, Khalil Dukes, Andre, etc being alumni. Some guys sprinkled out to BABC and the NY Lightning too.

I’m not sure if BABC has taken over those reigns fully or if it’s a mix now.

A mix

NY Lightning probably has the most CT kids, New England Expressions, City Rocks out of NY, BABC, Middlesex Magic.

It's crazy Connecticut doesn't have a high level AAU program on one of the major circuits.

I think it comes down to the good guys, Squid and Lou which is a program on the rise and id be very of them stealing him away. Hope we get him. Talent local kid so itd be nice to see him add to the tradition of Ct players leading us to national titles. I mean its a short list but might as well add to it.

Is UConn even pursuing him anymore? One of the podcasts I watched on youtube said they seemed to have backed off. This was a UConn based podcast.

Short answer: Not really
Long answer: While he's not among Hurley & co's highest priorities, there still is a chance he comes here, though it is slight. Earlier in the summer, it started to become apparent that our staff were growing less interested in aggressively pursuing Toure. This was noted by several insiders and then by Mark Zanetto. Because there is a vocal contingent on BY that loathe Mark Zanetto, that same vocal contingent has continued to claim whatever the opposite of what Zanetto says to be true. I understand why it has made much of what's posted on Toure's threads confusing.

All that to say, making a Final 7 on a top 30 kid is nothing to sneeze at. Similarly to Landrew's final 10: we may not push too hard to get him, but the more often this happens, the better the recruits will be that enter our program as freshmen.

Not pretending like I have any inside info, but according to Storrs Central we sent Nardi out to watch BABC at the 3SSB Show Your Stripes Invitational 5 weeks ago. Just doesn't make sense we'd lose interest in a hyper athletic, in-state wing but I guess there could be other factors involved.

It sounds like we like him but he’s not our top priority at his position and Hurley has too much respect for him to let him think he’s our top priority when he’s just a back up plan.

We've been watching him all summer. It's not a "we're not recruiting him" situation, but we may be priotizing other wings.
I hope we don't prioritize guys we can't get. I prefer to cast a wide net and take the first commit.

I love his game and athleticism and think he will end up having a nice career in the NBA but I am not 100% that he would thrive in the offense we run. That being said he is a borderline top 25 guy from CT and I like keeping those kind of kids home. I have no doubt that Hurley and Co would find a way to adapt to his skill set and utilize his athleticism. Definitely interested in seeing how this recruiting cycle plays out.

I know absolutely nothing about this kid’s recruitment aside from what’s in the public eye but I get more Tyler Betsey vibes than Donovan Clingan vibes.
I know nothing about this recruitment either but it'll fall in line with kids from CT not being very big UConn fans.

There's probably ways to fix this if UConn views this as a serious problem unless they don't mind missing out on the top 50 CT player every few years.

Is it CT kids not being fans of Uconn or Uconn not going out of their way for CT kids? I just don't know if Hurley & Staff put a lot of stock into keeping home growns & their recruiting is more intentional on the right fit than the narrative. When your brand is top 5 and attracts kids all over the country, just not sure you need to obligate to keeping the in state kids.

If he wants the money, it’ll be Cal & Arkansas.. if he wants some money, get coached by the best staff in the country, prob compete for a title and still go to the league after maybe 2 years- UConn is a no brainer.
