Starting Five: Nika Mühl on the precipice of history: The senior point guards needs just two assists to become the top passer in program history, plus other notes from the Huskies' practice day.

“I don't care if it's one of the freshmen, I feel like that's gonna be so, so cool,” Mühl said. “If it's one of my older, fellow seniors that's been here for four years, that's going to be cool. So I don't know. If I pass it to Coach (Geno Auriemma) out of bounds and he shoots and makes it, that's gonna be even cooler.”

Those injuries took so much from Paige and asked so much of her to have her return so strong this year. Every play that involves her has extra meaning for me as a result. Her maturity through it all is also inspiring. Such a human being.

This season (through the JSU game) Nika has assisted on 20.76% of Uconn's made baskets (225/1084). Here's how her 225 assists breaks down for each player, first digit is total assists to each player and in ( ) is % of their made baskets she assisted on. Paige 77 (27.9%), Aaliyah 44 (19.92%), Ashlynn 41 (26.28%), KK 24 (21.62%), Ice 13 (20.31%), Q 11 (16.42%), Aubrey 10 (21.28%), Carol 2 (40%).

This season Nika accounts for 32.47% of the team's assists, 225/693, over 35 games . Last season she accounted for 40.86% of the teams assists, 284/695, over 37 games. Her total number of assists for her junior and senior seasons is 509 and counting with a 7.07 a/g average over that period. She is the only Husky to ever post those numbers. Her career a/g average is currently at 5.18, which surpasses the previous leader Jill Brumbaugh (1984-88) who averaged 5.06 a/g.

Nika came to UConn as a pass first point guard - she will graduate holding virtually every school assist record. Geno has always asked his players to push themselves to excel in what they do best. There is no question that Nika has met that challenge!

I'm also hoping for Aaliyah to get to 1000 rebounds, putting her in the 1000 and 1000 club. If it weren't for the broken nose, she would be there by now.
Not sure why people kept missing that milestone. She's in the top 10 now.

It’s crazy that Aaliyah has played all most twice as many games yet only has 200 more points than paige
Probably a combination of less PT because of the presence of ONO and Juhasz plus a result of AE having a very limited offensive repertoire for her first two seasons. She put in the work to expand her post moves and shooting range.
