So Isaiah Sykes is in first place for Tourney MVP: 36 points 9 rebounds in UCF victory.

SMU currently losing to Houston. That might actually knock them out of the NCAAs.

Houston is playing really well - killing SMU in the 2nd half, but I can't see how a loss there would knock them out of the NCAA's. They beat UCONN twice, Cinci and Memhpis once, and lost to UVA by 3. I don't know what their RPI is, but 23-9 should get them into the big dance IMHO...

SMU loses this game and they are in deep, deep, deep trouble. Every other bubble team would have to lose today to get them back in the Dance. As far as SMU is concerned, today is the first round of the Tournament.

Well, it would give them 3 sub-150 losses (compared to only 4 Top 100 wins) to go with the 301st ranked OOC Schedule. Additionally, their only Top 100 road win was against UConn.

I still think they're in, but I think, depending on what other people do, it puts them in bad shape.

There are too many bubble teams still playing for SMU to survive this loss. Even a Kansas State, which I think is a lot closer to the edge of the bubble than most writers think, is still getting in over SMU if the Mustangs lose today. SMU must win this game to go.

It is close with 6 minutes left, and Larry Brown is sitting on SMU's bench, so I like their chances.

At worst they'd be in the First Four. But keep trying to push that everything sucks.

Frame this - I agree with Nelson.

SMU will be hovering around 60 RPI with a triple digit SOS. They're in huge trouble with a loss.

all 3 AAC games have been close, enjoyable games...I'm sure ESPN is pleased with that.

Louisville won that coin toss. I wish they allowed us to pick if we wanted the #1 or #2. Hmm, would UC rather play Houston or Memphis/UConn?? Louisville always gets what they want in March...

Yeah, Nelson is going to be proven definitively right or wrong here. Honestly, they make it in, but I agree with Nelson, they're in more trouble than people realize.

2 years...he'll hang it up at 75

I was thinking next year would be it. Probably depends on how they do. Missing the tournament this year and next may speed up the process, but 2 is probably reasonable.

I still think SMU gets in ... but they can't afford too many other upsets around the NCAA.

Good point. I honestly have no idea what the other teams in the 25-35 ranking range have done or how that loss will impact them, But I still can't see them not getting in. Maybe they went from a 7 seed to a 10 seed or something... But I still think they are in...

Louisville has about a 95% chance of making the final.

They have just 4 top 100 RPI wins and now 3 sub 150 RPI losses. They will probably be in the last 4 byes...

Houston was #157 in the RPI before their win over SMU and before they play Louisville. They'll likely be in the top 150 by selection Sunday. That would leave SMU with only two losses outside the Top 150, both on the road (USF and Temple). They are 4-5 against the RPI top 50 which is pretty credible and marks them as a likely tourney team.
