I think when the AAC Player of Year gets announced tomorrow Boat will get shafted. Its a shame too. They will give it to Moore due to SMU finishing 1st and UConn's spot isn't in top 3. I don't think Boat needs the extra motivation, but if that's the case - hopefully the team can respond for him.

Player MIN 3P% FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS

Boat 35.6 .424 .843 4.2 4.0 0.3 1.4 1.9 2.4 17.8
Moore 34.0 .429 .875 2.3 5.3 0.0 1.4 1.9 2.7 14.4

Edit: Looks like alignment is off, can't seem to fix it.

Boat should win. He will probably get drafted. It would be an embarrassment to this league if you're player of the year goes undrafted.

also boat took a massive dump on moore both times they played... he is by far the best player in the league and if moore wins it over boat the aac will look worse

I am as big of a Boat fan as they come, and you make it sound like he sound be a lock for AAC POY which simply isn't true. They have very similar stats outside of PPG which makes sense because Boat shoots more. Boat has been amazing this year and I shiver at the thought of how this season would have turned out if he had declared, but the fact of the matter is SMU has been a substantially better team and that factors into the POY discussion. Also, Boat certainly didn't take a massive dump on Moore in the 1st game when they blew us out. For Boat to win this year his stats would have to be substantially better than the next best player in the AAC, and they are not. AAC POY doesn't even matter and Boat doesn't care about it, let's win these next 4 for Boat and accomplish something that actually has true value.

so yeah boat took a dump on him... add in the fact that every single game boat is double and tripled team and still puts up numbers... moore looks good bc like you said, his team... the announcers have said kennedy is the best player on the team... i would love for us to win the aac tourney and make it to the ncaa tourney...but to say that boat isn't the best player is ridiculous especially when the only argument for more is that his team is better, not him...

I don't even want to argue against Boat because I agree that he should win, but it is not ridiculous at all that Moore gets it. He didn't "take a dump" on him in that first game whatsoever. We got blown out and Boat put up points in garbage time/had 4 TOs. Moore was a great facilitator and hit big shots to put the game out of reach at an early point.

Being drafted and being the best player in your conference don't really have anything to do with each other.

Yeah and the league dissolved.

Oh wow, you were posting this gem just as I was hitting submit. Good lord.

If they switched teams Boat would be putting up significantly less #s but would win because the team would be much better. Moore would put up higher numbers but the team would be worse...you are proving my point?

Boat might put up slightly less points (though I kinda doubt it), he would definitely put up more assists as there would be more room to operate and better chances his passes are finished. But there's no way Moore would do what Boatright has done against the constant double and triple teams and basically zero rest.

If you watch SMU, Boat would still be relied on to score a lot.. SMU has great paint presence which would open Boat for actual good shots, and you see him put up these numbers taking very very difficult/bad shots...

I thought last year was a tighter race with Bazz and Kilpatrick but this year I think Boat should win this hands down... He is definition of valuable

We are 17-13 coming off a National Championship and were expected to be a top 25 team. Boat has played exceptional but results matter and the team as a whole has not gotten it done. If you look historically you won't find many players winning conference POY on teams that have struggled as much as we have. Like it or not, that's just the way it is. Every poster on this board knows that Boat deserves the award but Nic Moore also has a very solid argument and plays for a much better team (record wise at least). Any of you think Boat cares about winning AAC POY if this team doesn't make the tournament? Because I think he will see the season as an absolute failure.

I thought it was announced Thursday afternoon right before the tournament or at least the major awards POY, coy etc. The all conference teams might be earlier though.

moore would not put up better numbers... were you ok with ben over kemba? even though kembas stats were better? and he had less around him?... so okafor should not win player of the year in the ACC, justin anderson should? WCS should win POY over FK, Okafor? daniel hamilton isnt the FOY? and no boat would rather win both tourneys than get an individual award we all want to win the tourneys, but to say nic moore is a better player than boat is ridiculous... if the only criteria that needs to be considered is only to pick a player on whatever team comes in first place, then it needs to be fixed...

Did I say that Moore is better than Boat? Your comparisons are absolutely ridiculous...Boats #s are SLIGHTLY better than Moore and RB is on a team that has performed significantly worse. Justin Anderson is averaging 4 ppg and 5rb less than Okafor and JO is shooting 67% from the field on a top 10 team. The Kaminsky and WCS comparison is even worse and all of the same points apply.
