So ever slightly under 7 million per school.

I think that’s about what we expected.

Also doesn’t call out UConn women’s basketball so we are going to have grandparents password surfing!

Geno doesn’t like the XL Center. How about ESPN+?

In the article it says there is some ESPN+ content it's a little contradictory but it seems like it's mostly non-football/basketball and it's other sports, but some games on ESPN+ for the main two sports.

Um - half the football goes to +. Half!

Football and men’s basketball will remain on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, but the majority of basketball games and about half of the football games will go to ESPN+.

No way will UConn or Cincy be playing any basketball on ESPN+. They will definitely have all of their games on ESPN/2/U. Football on the other hand will definitely be relegated to ESPN+ lol

Can someone more familiar with the weeds of the current contract explain to me how the current deal with CBS works? I was under the impression CBS was buying excess content from ESPN. But, if those rights are being seperatly negotiated than I’m guessing the total media payout per year will be above 7 million.

"They did not sign a grant of rights, which would have restricted them from jumping to a conference in the Power Five."

I wonder if they traded some cash away for this flexibility.

Without a doubt.

CBS is a separate contract, but the value has to be tiny, they only do a handful of games a year.

(Whispers: I’m happy Baseball is getting on ESPN+)

It’s perfect for that and soccer. It’s a death sentence for recruiting in football when you’ve already got a nearly impossible challenge.

It's confusing on the football side. Does that mean the other half of the football games are being bought by someone else? ie CBS sports?

I have espn+. It is great and I have no problem with our games being on it. Traditional cable is dying...but I was hoping for at least 10 million per school since this deal will probably look very cheap after the first few years.
