Buy Diaco as a first time coach did not deserve more than 1.7m. There is no doubt UConn would step up if the coach warranted it. Your data is skewed by the experience of the coaches above Diaco. They have more and are worth more. Diaco is the problem not UConn's willingness to spend. I think he is overpaid.

2015 AAC Assistant pay (this is why UConn won't be able to get a good HC no matter what they want to pay for that one position):

Total assistant salary pool (public schools only as of 2015):

1. UCF ($2.75 million)
2. Houston ($2.11 million)
3. Memphis ($2.11 million)
4. Cincinnati (1.95 million)
5. UConn ($1.94 million)
6. USF ($1.73 million)
7. ECU ($1.7 million)

UConn's 2 Coordinators quite likely make less $$ than every coordinator in the league outside of Navy and Tulsa (mayyybee Temple's).

Well they are the worst coordinators so technically they are being paid properly.

Dooley - I get your point but Herman is an really outlier... he was making $1.45 before his recent donor funded extension this past November after going 13-1.
Houston also siad yesterday that "money will not be the reason Tom Herman leaves UofH, if he does"... Which is insane to me, but they're gonna come up with insane amounts of cash for that guy apparently. He'll still be HC at Texas next season though. Look for Lincoln Riely to be head man at Houston in 2017.

It's easy when you have a billionaire sugar daddy as chairman of the University BOR. That bubble will seemingly burst some day.

If Herman leaves look for Orlando to be promoted to HC.

Lincoln Riley may end up with the SMU job if Morris leaves for Baylor

If Herman leaves look for Orlando to be promoted to HC.
Or, join Herman with a highly compensated DC-role in Austin, Baton, Rouge, etc. Previously, rumors suggested Orlando preferred being a DC to taking on the added figure-head and related responsibilities of a head coach.
