If you want us to look like a MAC program, than $7 million a year from TV is great. We need at least $10 million, and really need more if we are going to try to compete with even lower tier P5. We dont have the coaching or recruiting budget to even hope to compete. The exit fees are done, and Auriemma is about to retire, so the financial situation is going to get worse. $7 million is not enough, and the fact that it is better than some directional school in the MAC or Sun Belt is receiving does not make our financials any better.

Mike Anthony is right about one thing in today's article. If UConn has to sever its relationship with SNY, this next deal will be the final nail in the coffin.

I am not so sure this is true.

Too early to say otherwise just yet. Maybe we will see a reversal of university trends when we look back in 2025, but at this point more schools still want to move up athletically than down. 1/2 the schools in CUSA would gladly take our place and Buffalo is already doing a good job becoming a recognizable mid major. For any of those schools moving to the AAC is all gain.

Part of our problem - and stands to reason because it’s CT- is we must have a admin heavy program sucking up cash. We also are supporting too many major sports (ahem Hockey) but hard to retract on that without looking absolutely foolish.

I agree 100%. It hadn't even occurred to me that UConn would give up SNY.

If UConn gave up exposure with SNY and the ESPN cable platform, we're screwed and the AD should probably be sent packing for whatever role he had in it.

+5 million is not a high enough price tag to swallow a cyanide pill...

If the contract forces UConn to sever ties with SNY, it will only add to the argument that ESPN has truly been on a mission to destroy UConn athletics. In an ideal world, all UConn games that will be streamed on ESPN+ should be available to SNY.

You would have to believe that Suzie & Benedict know the details. If they haven't contacted SNY to say everything is still good it's likely that the SNY content is being moved somewhere else

I'm too lazy to try to find it. What were we getting from SNY, about $2MM annually for the entire UConn TV deal?
