I would like to see Kia's name on 2nd or 3rd team, as well. She is under-rated; lost in the spotlights of her more flashy teammates. And, I believe, she is beginning to ascend to superstar level. She can prove it in the next three games.Yeah-I'm hoping Gabby made 2nd team.
I think the position composition of the first team was coincidental. I think players were listed on the ballot regardless of position, and the selection was based on points. The top 5 had the most points, in descending order.Lou will have two more chances. Let's not rush her out of Storrs. Also, the composition of the team is two guards and three front court players. Jones and Wilson did no more, and maybe not as much, as Gabby. Maybe one of them should have been replaced?
As long as a team is limited to 3 nominees, it's tough.I would like to see Kia's name on 2nd or 3rd team, as well. She is under-rated; lost in the spotlights of her more flashy teammates. And, I believe, she is beginning to ascend to superstar level. She can prove it in the next three games.
MD (1st & 3rd).Major losses to graduation:
Washington (1st & 2nd), Kentucky (2 HM), Stanford (2 HM), Maryland (1st)
Congrats to Lexie Brown. Also of note, Maryland's 2013 recruiting class has three all Americans on it.Glad to see Lexie Brown make the team. It may have happened before..... but how many times has a player made the AP All-American team playing for two different schools... ?
Duh?
Maybe one day we'll learn the full story as to why she left. If she'd have stayed Frese wouldn't be sitting in the rocking chair right now.Congrats to Lexie Brown. Also of note, Maryland's 2013 recruiting class has three all Americans on it.
Tough, but not completely impossible… Asjha managed to make the AP third team in 2002 with Sue, Swin, and Diana ahead of her. But it's not every day that one team has four future U.S. Olympians on its roster. As long as a team is limited to 3 nominees, it's tough.
Kimbrough is listed as a junior. Is that not right?MD (1st & 3rd).
It's never been done at UConn before. No idea about elsewhere.Interesting. So Gabby could potentially have 300+ Rebounds, 200+ Assists, 100+ Steals, 50+ Blocks. I would like to know if that has ever been done before.
Not at UCONN.Interesting. So Gabby could potentially have 300+ Rebounds, 200+ Assists, 100+ Steals, 50+ Blocks. I would like to know if that has ever been done before.
Diamond took too many games off.... and was a turnover machine in a few of their losses..... Although extremely talented and great to watch, that is not recipe for AA you must be consistent and bring it all the time....Diamond DeShields doesn't even make honorable mention. Wow!!
I always find it interesting to look at underclassmen ...
3 1st team, 3 2nd team, 3 3rd team, and 11 HM
Third Team
Sydney Wiese, Oregon State, 6-1, senior, Phoenix, 15.7 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 4.6 apg, 45.9 3-pt fg pct, 85.3 ft pct (1, 56)
Lindsay Allen, Notre Dame, 5-8, senior, Mitchellville, Md., 9.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 7.6 apg, 50.0 fg pct (4, 54)
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Maryland, 5-11, junior, Aliquippa, Pa., 18.6 ppg, 3.7 apg, 53.1 fg pct, 44.7 3-pt fg pct, 81.1 ft pct (0, 52)
Lexie Brown, Duke, 5-9, junior, Suwanee, Ga., 18.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 3.6 apg, 92.2 ft pct, 2.8 steals (0, 40)
Victoria Vivians, Mississippi State, 6-1, junior, Carthage, Miss., 16.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg (1, 34)
Yes, I was really hoping she would make 3rd team. She's a high value-add player.I would like to see Kia's name on 2nd or 3rd team, as well. She is under-rated; lost in the spotlights of her more flashy teammates. And, I believe, she is beginning to ascend to superstar level. She can prove it in the next three games.
Triad! You're back. Glad to see, I was worried about you. I too am happy for Lexi.Glad to see Lexie Brown make the team. It may have happened before..... but how many times has a player made the AP All-American team playing for two different schools... ?
Thank you. I thought she might've been but didn't bother to cross check.Apparently the AP's site misreported Shatori Walker-Kimbrough's grade classification. She is a senior, not a junior.
Very simple. 1st Team AA. AP/WBCA/USBWA (the 3 listed in the Media Guide) count. WBCA and USBWA give 10-man 1st team. AP only does a 5-man 1st team.
Pretty sure if Williams is making the 2nd Team AP, she'll make one of the 10 team lists.
Not correct. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough is a senior.Kimbrough is listed as a junior. Is that not right?
It is nice to see you surface, Triad. (Or perhaps you already had, and I'd simply missed you. I've been partially out of commission myself.)You know its a tough year to make the Ap team as a guard when Jordin Canada and Alexis Jones only get honorable mention.
As long as a team is limited to 3 nominees, it's tough.
There's probably an agenda . . . .Tough, but not completely impossible… Asjha managed to make the AP third team in 2002 with Sue, Swin, and Diana ahead of her. But it's not every day that one team has four future U.S. Olympians on its roster.
