A twist on an old plan.

If that's true, and I'll bet over the past six years it's not, then they don't need UConn basketball. So just stop with the crazy ideas about the football team going independent.
They need UConn viewers and UConn's brand.

They had a chance to grab Penn State viewers and the Joe Paterno brand 32 years ago and the same Catholic basketball only schools voted no to that because they didn't think football mattered. They were wrong then and you're wrong now. Don't get me wrong, I love Uconn basketball, both men's and women's programs, but football is more important to the overall health of the Athletic Dept, and if I'm Dave Benedict, that's numero uno. The football program needs to grow and it can't by being an independent because our basketball program is dieing in the AAC and needs the Big East just as much as it needs us. Maybe it's dieing because Kevin Ollie has forgotten how to coach his team.
