Well Dawn gets a statue for winning three championships. So Geno should get a Monument. From Suenna, Italy.
Nice, I have a bookmark with the Siena tower on it. When I saw it I thought "gee that looks familiar" LOLWell Dawn gets a statue for winning three championships. So Geno should get a Monument. From Suenna, Italy. View attachment 109217
Philly could do something like the "Rocky" statue. After all, Rocky's not a real person and Geno has 12 NCs (soon to be 13).Shouldn't it be a combination of his Italian hometown and Philadelphia? Considering most of his life was in the US, it would be cool to blend the architectural styles of both cities.

Wouldn't a Philly Cheesesteak make more sense?A tower made to look like a giant hoagie.

This is Connecticut so it’s a Grinder. If it was Philly then they could erect a Geno’s Hogie or Cheese Steak Monument.A tower made to look like a giant hoagie.
I bet that will happen in due time.Name the court after Geno.
I'd like to think so. For what it's worth I have often thought that it should be renamed "Hall of Fame Court" in recognition of the many Hall of Fame athletes, and coaches who have come through Storrs. Although I would leave the "UConn" and "Huskies" along the end lines I would add Auriemma on one side and Calhoun on the other. Along the sidelines, I would add the names of all of our great Hall of Fame players, Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, Rebecca Lobo, Kara Wolters, Jen Rizzotti Swin Cash, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, and of course, Chris Dailey. (Feel free to add anyone if I miss someone.)I bet that will happen in due time.

Acrophobic?I climbed to the very top of the Mangia Tower in Siena in 1997 just below the huge bell. I wouldn't recommend it if you're claustrophobic.
I would be willing to bet that Geno feels the same way. It would be cool to see a monument of the both of them somewhere outside Gampel. Maybe near the Jonathan statue? No idea of the physical set up of the area around it, but i always thought the Jonathan statue looked really cool on TV when they showed it before home games...I thk tht any tribute bestowed upon Geno be it a statue, monument, court naming, banner or plaque......has to include CD
Maybe a statue of CD holding Geno back from verbally assaulting a ref ....lmaoI would be willing to bet that Geno feels the same way. Has to be from Phil and Jim's.This is Connecticut so it’s a Grinder. If it was Philly then they could erect a Geno’s Hogie or Cheese Steak Monument.
I think we have our winning submission.Maybe a statue of CD holding Geno back from verbally assaulting a ref ....lmao

No attack here but not something that would make sense at all. The floor would look like alphabet soup. The court has a name and the famous that made it so are represented with banners on the walls and hanging from the rafters. The Hall of Fame Court is in Springfield Mass, and should remain there. This with several players and coaches from UConn enshrined there. JMHO.I'd like to think so. To me that is a great way to recognize the individual and collective accomplishments of the program. Athletic director Dave Benedict indicated he would not do it because the court was named "alumni court" and he wouldn't insult the alumni by renaming it. Which seems kind of silly since you could just ask the alumni association whether they feel it would be appropriate, or just call it Hall of Fame – alumni Court. Recently, though, I read something about the possibility of selling the court naming rights at Gampel, so I wonder if that was the real motivation for his reluctance.

Not at all. You could make the various names be like signatures along the side and end lines of the court. I think it would be pretty cool and a nice acknowledgment of a history that is unique to us. But people can have different opinions. No attack here but not something that would make sense at all. The floor would look like alphabet soup. "Alumni's Hall of Fame Court". I don't know about individual names. Maybe Calhoun and Geno but adding players names you could run out of room on the court at some point in the future. Sort of like the Yankees and retired player numbersI'd like to think so.
