I’ve been seeing a lot of Twitter posts about Audi Crooks’ impressive 2025-26 season so far. I remembered that UConn beat Crook’s Iowa State team last year and rewatched to see how the Huskies defended her. I guess the best way to defend Audi Crooks is to keep the ball out of her hands, as with most post players, but peppering her team with three pointers is also a great way to get the win

Ash was incredible this game. Enjoy!

Ash doing her best Azzi impersonation, filling it up with 20 points in the first quarter on 6-6 from 3. Paige and Sarah filled it up in the remaining three quarters and carried UConn to a dominant win. This was an early glimpse of what ‘the Big Three’ would look like last season.

It also showed up the primary vulnerability of any lineup featuring Crooks, since they had to play a zone to protect her from being exposed. But that let UConn party from beyond the arc.

Ash had my favorite highlight from the Iowa game. At 4:48 in the first quarter KK steals the ball and races down court with Chit Chat Wright by her side. If you pause the video at 4:45 you will see 2 Iowa players following the play at half court. Then out of nowhere Ash passes the Iowa players at a full sprint and gets the put back when KK misses the layup. Typical hustle from Ash and a great play.

Ashlynn's greatest game, finishing with 27 points. Ashlynn was ROBBED of another 3 point shot when the Ref called a time out to check the clock. Ashlynn would have had 30 points in the game plus making 8 3-pointers instead of 7. I have watched this game on You Tube about 40 times and still get excited as ever with her play. GO ASHLYNN!!!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!

Crooks sure is fun to watch. She is just an absolute mountain of a post presence and has very nice footwork and touch. I'm wondering given her offensive impact if she can be a decent WNBA player if she really gets in great shape.

I’d guess that Audi has very limited prospects for a pro career. She’s too slow and can’t play in anything but a zone defense. And as good as her post moves are for D1 competition, I don’t see them being nearly as effective in the W against consistently taller, quicker opponents.

I tend to agree, but I remember the level of success Courtney Paris (and to a lesser degree, her sister Ashley) had with a somewhat similar build. As always, we'll have to wait and see. I also remember Danielle Adams, a brilliant shooter and passer who couldn't stay in the league because she was a defensive liability. The W, and life in general, does not favor those of us who are excessively endowed gravitationally.

I was astonished to find that Courtney lasted 11 seasons and had 2-3 seasons with a decent assist #, but was never a scorer, in 4 of those years good rebounds. Amazed she hung in there so long.
