Can someone explain this to me? UConn 10 assists?
The record was set when they reached 10. Yes there were 18 in the game but the record was set before the last one

Good to tout the defense because it is the area that distinguishes UConn from everyone else in the field. In a game in which the Huskies' best shooters could not find the ocean, the d was the way that gave UConn the time to regain its footing.
This game illustrated the way that the Huskies could lose (gasp!); go ice cold and count on holding off the opponent. BUT should the opponent have more than 1 player, trouble could brew.
Now, we have the Irish again, a team we already beat by the largest MOV in the history of the rivalry. ND also has a player who can put up numbers, the dreaded HH. (She is also extremely annoying with all the chest pounding.) Regardless, we should prevail.
After the Irish, it's probably SC and UCLA. This is where the title will be decided, and we'll need some offense to go with our d.

Connecticut now holds the aggregate records for most assists, and steals in a season, but in neither of those cases do they have the highest average per game. This year's assists per game are currently (23.57) second all-time to Villanova (24.7, 1987) and would break the school record of 23.3 set in 2017. Steals per game (15.76) aren't even in the top 20 all-time: Grambling's old record of 580 in 1997 was set in only 30 games. [Connecticut set a record for aggregate blocks in 2014 which also wasn;t a per-game record; South Carolina broke both in 2023.]
