I seem to remember some fans on here were beside themselves with how poorly we played against WVU. Having the audacity to only beat them by 20. Vowelguy threw out every stat to argue WVU wasn't that good and their record was due to weak competition.

Oops.
 
Very cool. Now UCONN won't have to rely on a coin flip if they win against ND.

I think Muffett had too much faith in Diggins ability to make something happen against WVU's defense but Carey got his team ready to defend in that last TO. He simply outcoached her throughout this game.

I was thinking before this game that ND had leveled off while WVU was coming on strong. But I never thought ND would actually lose this game.
 
Rutgers is playing like shit. No one has shown up expect Laney. :mad:

West Virginia has always been solid to me. Good defense can really disrupt the best of teams as we saw today!

i wasn't exactly beside myself, but i didn't think UCONN played well that game, at least not in the first half. having said that, WVU just showed how good they are and that Busie is not only the best center in the big east, but one of the top 5 in the nation.
 
should have passed to half court and gotten a quick time-out, then with ~3.5 sec left for a shot and possible board if missed.

RU fans have to be disappointed so far. not a good game and WITH Rushdan back. RU does not do well when they have a big deficit. it takes them time to come back since they aren't offensively prolific...

We did come back from 16 against Depaul with less time then this.
 
In other news, Purdue is up on Ohio State 37-31 at the half. Sam Prahalias has 20 minutes to change the game, or tOSU is looking a two game losing streak dead in the eyes.

OK, good for you. Rushdan and Oliver can play, but Sykes IMO is a very bad influence on RU and I am a little surprised that CVS apparently has not figured that out.

ah. did not know that. well good luck to RU in the 2nd half. any team that plays stellar defense has a chance if they can get the offense to click. but SJU is shooting something like 57% for the half. RU needs to kick the defense into high gear...

I want Penn State to win the B10, so I'm rooting for OSU just so PSU would slide into the top spot.

Huh? tOSU and Sammy underperforming is not news. Pretenders, even more so than Maryland.

I don't think she'll admit she made a mistake recruiting her. She doesn't fit our system at all. CVS has done a better job finding kids who fit her system of play since then. Just have to give them time to adjust and get better.

I don't know if recruiting her was a mistake. After all she is certainly a talented offensive player. But if recruiting was not the mistake, the way she has been coached (or not coached, if you will) certainly has been.

Havent seen much of RU or Sykes this year, but curious to see why you say she doesnt fit your system.
 
Geno wanted April, so I'll give the benefit of the doubt to April and say Rutgers wasn't the best fit for her. Also how many others in her class left and didn't stick it out. Perhaps UConn wouldn't have been the correct fit either. April probably should have gone closer to home.

Geno wanted her, based on what? No offer was extended and it's not clear to me that UConn had much interest.
 
I think that first year for Sykes really screwed with her head - Rutgers was just a mess that year with the defection to Europe, and two of the heralded class quitting. CViv was miserable, the players were miserable, the fans were miserable - just a mess. I give her props for sticking it out, but I think everything that happened that year just ate into her confidence.
 
Ohio State's coach has a spiffy sweater going on. So there's that.
 
This game between Ohio State and Purdue is close but nearly unwatchable.
