Listen, I really like rooting for Seton Hall and they are clearly the 4th best team in the Big East, but they play just like what you expect the 4th best team to play like. They mostly beat the bad teams in the Big East and have lost every matchup to Nova/St. John's/UConn.

They work their asses off, play aggressive defense (their only holes are is that they foul a ton and are terrible defensive rebounders, mainly because they're tiny) and have no organized offense aside from let Budd Clark (I love this kid), Tajuan Simpkins or AJ Staton-McCray cook from ISO ball or dump it in to one of their centers.

The main thing UConn needs to clean up is that last game, Ball/Demary combined for 8 TOs and the team shot 18% from 3. They keep their centers fresh, so Reed's motor will be tested, but he's been so dominant against two damn good defensive centers the last two, I'm eager to see how he played.

My hopes for Seton Hall? We crush them Saturday, they beat Xavier/St. John to finish out the regular season, they win the 4/5 matchup in the QTs and we beat them again in the semis as the #1 seed in the BET. Hopefully that's enough to get them into the tournament.

Not looking good against the spread. However, we did crush the spread in the last game. But if they let up in this game, it is looking more like a 5 point win than a 15 point win. And it is at Gampel and emotions will be high. We are on the right, below:

Seton Hall did not hit a three in their last game against GTown, and still won.

Need to deal with their pressure, and get Reed involved again early.
The pressure concerns me. The early defensive rebounding dominance against St. Johns went a long way towards neutralizing theirs. So Hurley needs to stick with that model, cut down on the hedging, keep Reed in the paint to protect the rim and rebound. Send Mullins or others to threaten a fast break off those defensive boards.

Curious to see how they approach this.

If they revert back to how they played Creighton, they could easily lose this game. I don't expect that but I hope the coaches get the point across.

If we find a way to score 70 it looks like we should win. According to those conference rankings, the thing the Hall is best at is luck. Not something to hang your hat on. These guys don't attempt or make 3's so maybe, as in last game, don't sell out defending the perimeter as much. Clog the middle, don't let them get to the tin and avoid the help fouls.

If they don't play well I will question this team's focus and maturity. I wasn't too concerned about the Creighton loss like most people just because there's always a WTF game every year. These are college kids after all. But after it happened and then they were laser focused in both the Villanova and St. John's games to then have a let down now would not be a good sign. I don't expect that to happen.

I think we will see the same defense. The team has progressed and is coming into its own. First we have a complex offense that new players are becoming comfortable with including Silas. The defense starts with Tarris and he turned a switch and seems much more confident. Too positive?

Nope, just right.

This will tell us even more at this time. I mean Tarris plays with the same intensity to set the tone, is so important. I’m hoping the change in defensive scheme on the perimeter that we saw Wednesday is something they stick with. Love not fighting thru the screens but instead skipping under them, vs. a less than average shooting team especially. Stay with it, let them make a couple but don’t let them take the corner with momentum to the hoop.

Let’s see what they learned.
