With Stevens and this class coming in I think Dawn may be wise to take a couple of years off. Just sayin'.
Not skeered.

You will be (Maniacal laugh follows. And again, and echoes into the night). Not skeered.
Your LadyCocks. You know who "they" wereWho is "they" smart guy?
She scheduled UCONN through the Stewie, Moriah, Morgan years without any hesitation. They have come in with the attitude that they think they can win and played hard and the games have been very entertaining.
A game with Nevada-Reno would be the most ideal venue for a homecoming game for Gabby. The Lawlor Events Center is a 12,00 seat on campus arena within walking distance to downtown Reno (hotels/casinos). Reno is the next city west of Sparks. They share the same city boundary line. There a lot of UConn fans on the west coast that would likely attend this game. This game would no doubt draw the largest crowd of the year for a Wolfpack game next year.
There are local AAU teams, high school teams, and WCBB fans in general that would also attend the game to see the #1 women's college basketball team in the country. The lady Wolfpack does not normally have a large draw for their home games. Attendance for a home game against UConn would be an anomaly. It's a very nice venue, I've been there twice. I sure hope UConn can pull this off.
AZ State would be an interesting matchup, but, having lived in Tempe for nearly 10 years, I can tell you that city has virtually nothing in common with Las Vegas or Reno, especially not geography Yes, both are in the Southwest, but it's sort of like saying that Mars and Uranus are in the same Solar System, so goign to one is like going to the other. Well, no. Four miserable hours, Tempe-t0-Vegas. By car, at least 10 hours to Reno.
What kind of basketball team is Nevada-Reno? Are they even Division I? Is this a viable opponent?
Now there is a coach that is-----SKEERED!!!!!Unlike some coach in Waco.

LMAO. Put it this way playing Uconn will definitely put the margin back to 20-25 ppg
Yes. They are in the Mountain West.

We're just the Gamecocks. Not the LadyCocks, Lady Gamecocks or Gamehens... just the Gamecocks.
So you're feeling some kind of way that SC went into that game expecting to win?
Even if the odds are against you, no coach with their salt should be coaching a defeatist attitude.
First of I all I was being sarcastic and second I wasn't feeling any type of way cuz I knew Uconn was going to win like the past 2 years. We beat y'all with Katie Lou having an off night and Kia sitting out much of that game. Losing to duke and Tennessee at home lol SC is over hyped because they have a Star in Aja but no helpWe're just the Gamecocks. Not the LadyCocks, Lady Gamecocks or Gamehens... just the Gamecocks.

I personally think that Maryland and Baylor were (are) better than the Gamecocks and perennially are.I think we need to give Dawn a little more credit. She scheduled UCONN through the Stewie, Moriah, Morgan years without any hesitation. They have come in with the attitude that they think they can win and played hard and the games have been very entertaining. Dawn has built a program to be proud of at South Carolina. They have great attendance, passionate fans and are getting better all the time.
I, for one would love to see more games against teams that play like South Carolina - and for the record I do really enjoy beating them.
They do have some solid talent but I agree that Aja made them a little more dangerous and her attending SC had a bit more to do with having been born there rather than a credit to Dawn's recruiting prowess. I think Dawn is a better recruiter than she is a game coach and don't feel she's nearly on the level of a number of other women's basketball coaches including Muffet and Tara and Kim. I think SC has reached their peak and won't likely ever approach that No. 1 spot in the standings again. even temporarily.First of I all I was being sarcastic and second I wasn't feeling any type of way cuz I knew Uconn was going to win like the past 2 years. I'm thinking they believed they had a reasonable chance to win but EXPECTING to win???????We're just the Gamecocks. Not the LadyCocks, Lady Gamecocks or Gamehens... just the Gamecocks.

Stanford is 3.5 hours from Reno. It's also over 6-1/2 hour drive from Sparks to Las Vegas. Neither Las Vegas nor LA is anywhere near Sparks/Reno. Sacramento (2-1/2 hours) and San Francisco (3-1/2 hours) are much closer.
They beat Memphis earlier this year.Nevada -Reno is a Division 1 program. They are in the "Mountain West Conference". They are currently 10-14 (4-9). They are not a program on the come at the moment. It's the VENUE that UConn is interested in playing at, NOT so much the team itself. Remember, this is strictly for Gabby. I would compare them to a Tulsa or Houston from our conference.
I'm thinking they believed they had a reasonable chance to win but EXPECTING to win???????
I never played a game in youth league or high school or college that I did not expect to win. My sport was baseball but played some hoops too.Did you play sports growing up?
The UConn women are playing Tulane tonight. Do you honestly think Tulane expects to beat UConn tonight? Having a positive attitude is always great but reality sometimes has to be considered, don't you think? I know, never say never and and other catch phrases are out there but come on. You play to win and give your all but expecting to win in some situations is beyond reason. Yes, by the way, I played sports growing up and my mindset was always about giving my best effort, not focusing on the potential outcome but playing every play with everything I could. The UConn women have learned to play at a high level minute by minute by minute and it appears it's worked out well for them. If you do that, most often you do have success and do win but never taking a play off is why they've had the success they have. Did SC expect to beat Duke earlier this year and then expect to beat Tennessee and now expect to beat UConn and did that change any reality for them? I EXPECT UConn to play with great intensity and great effort and where the shoe falls, it falls.Did you play sports growing up?
I never expected NOT to win but I conversely didn't always expect to win. I expected to play at a high level and expend a lot of energy but those are the only things I could control. Particularly in team sports, other factors take place and I never thought to much about it. Usually if you and your teammates did what they could, winning was the outcome. As I mentioned in another thread, did you realistically think the Tulane women expect to win tonight????? If they don't EXPECT to win, would you call them losers???? I don't think so or at least I hope you wouldn't. The reality is everyone on this site think UConn will not only win tonight but mostly by numbers exceeding 40 points so maybe reality should mean something, don't you think????I never played a game in youth league or high school or college that I did not expect to win. My sport was baseball but played some hoops too.
