New Haven Register reported that UConn will play Ohio State possibly as the first game next year. Dawn Staley has said that she wants to keep the South Carolina/Connecticut series going after next year. We're playing Oregon on the West Coast next year.

Do we have a handle on other games that are now set for the 17/18 season? Just curious....

Yes. Was printed about a week ago. Don't have time to find link right now. But was posted here

Since this will be asked about 978 times before next season, here's the non-conference schedule:

In its 2017-18 non-league schedule, UConn will
  • host California, Louisville, Maryland, Notre Dame and Oklahoma;
  • play at DePaul, Ohio State, South Carolina, Texas and UCLA; and have
  • neutral-site games vs Duquesne (in Toronto) and Michigan State (in Eugene OR).
  • one game TBD

I believe it was said the TBD is looking for a home coming game for Williams. Somewhere near Nevada?

Thanks very much for that! And Michigan State will be played at Oregon, if I'm not mistaken.

Wow! That's an even tougher NCS than this year's! No Chattanooga, no Dayton, no Kansas!

Wow! Many thanks!

Duquesne in Toronto? Is that the American university? Or is there a Canadian university named Duquesne? Some particular reason for playing an American university across the border in Canada? Seems a bit odd to me. Of course, nice to have a homecoming game for Kia.

Just a bit befuddled by the venue.

The US Duquesne also has a Canadian player needing a homecoming game, so both of us are going over there to play each other

Huh! Has the venue been fixed yet? Is it really Toronto? That would be a long way away from both campuses: Connecticut and Pittsburgh.

UNLV is the only possible team in Nevada. But she could consider the LA area as home territory. In western terms, it is reachable by car. Add USC? Or Arizona State?

Has the Nevada Wolfpack, out of Reno, formerly said no?

It's also over 6-1/2 hour drive from Sparks to Las Vegas. Neither Las Vegas nor LA is anywhere near Sparks/Reno. Sacramento (2-1/2 hours) and San Francisco (3-1/2 hours) are much closer.

Yep, sorry. I wrote that before I looked it all up on map quest. Sparks is just east of Sacramento. My mistake.

We're talking San Francisco area, or UC Davis or something.

Wonder if they'll ask Gabby where she wants to play the game.

AZ State would be an interesting matchup, but, having lived in Tempe for nearly 10 years, I can tell you that city has virtually nothing in common with Las Vegas or Reno, especially not geography Yes, both are in the Southwest, but it's sort of like saying that Mars and Uranus are in the same Solar System, so goign to one is like going to the other. Well, no. Four miserable hours, Tempe-t0-Vegas. By car, at least 10 hours to Reno.

A game with Nevada-Reno would be the most ideal venue for a homecoming game for Gabby. The Lawlor Events Center is a 12,00 seat on campus arena within walking distance to downtown Reno (hotels/casinos). Reno is the next city west of Sparks. They share the same city boundary line. There a lot of UConn fans on the west coast that would likely attend this game. This game would no doubt draw the largest crowd of the year for a Wolfpack game next year.

There are local AAU teams, high school teams, and WCBB fans in general that would also attend the game to see the #1 women's college basketball team in the country. The lady Wolfpack does not normally have a large draw for their home games. Attendance for a home game against UConn would be an anomaly. It's a very nice venue, I've been there twice. I sure hope UConn can pull this off.

After Aja Wilson leave they will be just another average team even with the talent they have coming in. I don't kno if it's the system or if Dawn Staley is asa good as everyone thinks. Either way I'll love for Uconn to keep pounding them for the fact every year they make it as SC is going to beat Uconn

With Stevens and this class coming in I think Dawn may be wise to take a couple of years off. Just sayin'.
