I think Iowa runs out of gas...their starters have played almost 3 full games the last three days. Maryland starters all rested the 4th quarter today and if it turns into a track meet, I think they win handily.

Realistically Maryland may win by alot.... But I'm going with Iowa for the upset.

MD will likely have too much for Iowa, but I have to give credit to the job that Lisa Bluder has done in developing this Hawkeye team. Bluder is one of the best and least appreciated HC’s in WBB. If she can continue to bring in recruits like Clark, Bluder might just challenge MD for supremacy in the B1G.

In addition, Iowa has a tremendous fan base. Once fans are allowed back into Carver-Hawkeye Arena, it will be SRO.

This is my feelings as well. It could be a really good game in the first half but Iowa will be gassed by the 2nd half. Plus Maryland have really good depth with Reese, Masonius and Styles all of whom reached double figures yesterday.

I, for one am really looking forward to seeing Angel Reese who is getting back in to basketball condition vs. Caitlin Clark who has been great at feeding Czinano inside while she handles the perimeter. I am hoping for a good game but the Terps have dominated everyone in this conference including the Hawkeyes a few weeks ago.

This game will be a good opportunity for Clark to gain more supporters for her winning FOY award. If she plays well, and I think she will, she will quiet her critics and Iowa may just give Maryland a good game.

If Chloe Bibby is going to sink threes like this, it's GG and everyone is praying for MD to be a seed in a different region then theirs. I vote that TAMU or South Carolina get MD.

Maryland is a poor defensive team that plays at an accelerated pace, exactly what any offensive player including Clark would love. I'd say a good opportunity would be if Clark played a great game against Stanford or Baylor.

How many assists would a certain UConn guard have if she could make her passes to Czinano? I'm shocked when Czinano misses.

Maryland's defense has improved the past 6 games. They have held every team in that span except Nebraska under their season average.

I'm not saying they are bottom of the barrel, but in comparison to SC, Stanford, Baylor??? And did you notice the pace comment? Maryland plays up and down which leads to more shots and more offense, for both teams.

Yes, you make a great point there. But Maryland defense has improved since they gave up 93 to Arkansas, 88 to Ohio State and 93 to Iowa. And great point on Baylor, Stanford and South Carolina on being great defensively.

I would argue that Maryland's defense is pretty good, while not at the SC, Stanford, Baylor or UCONN level, they are not "bad" as stated above. I would say Iowa's defense IS BAD. Lisa Bluder has a great offensive philosophy however she probably needs to shake up her staff and bring in a defensive coach-hey Nykesha Sales from UCF could be an option...

A few other thoughts came to me watching this game:
  • Angel Reese is pretty impressive. Too bad she missed most of the season, otherwise she could be considered for many awards.
  • Brenda earned a well deserved Coach of the Year this week
  • Maryland is as dominant in the Big Ten as UConn, Baylor or Stanford have been in their leagues.
  • I had forgotten Brenda replaced one of her assistants that defected to Ole Miss (along with Austin) and I wonder what insight @TerpWomenFan can shed on that person and what effect they may have had on this team? No one could have predicted that this team would be this good given all the defections and new faces.

MD plays very good defense in spurts. That is usually enough with their offense. Very unselfish with good ball movement. Looks alot like UConn when we have 5 scoring threats on the floor.
