350 teams to start the year with what 40-50 teams with a shot to win it all? No sport has more parody than college hoops. college football has only like 10 to 15 teams with a shot. Nba has 10 teams tops, nfl has 10 teams tops, mlb maybe 12 teams tops. Its really not close. No team in all of sports with more ships than we do since 99. Its pretty impressive.

I agree but do you really believe college hoops is more "humorous" than any other sport?

Heck yeah!! 4 championships since 1999 is impressive.

UConn Huskies!!!

nothing tops the competition of professional sports. Lakers under Phil might be the best if not maybe Spurs under Pop.

You must be absolutely dying to talk about Phil with the Knicks. I mean dying. How do you contain it?

If Phil is on his game, the first thing he'll do is unload Anthony, because that guy is synonymous with losing basketball.

It's right there with the Patriots. What they did (and are still doing) in the salary cap/revenue sharing era is ridiculous. NFL has the most parity of any league, and the league is at a professional level (highest competition).

Alabama football is in the conversation as well. Three NCs and 3 conference titles in the best conference in football. Add in 4 other bowl victories since 1999.

Nope

Parody was the right word. Sometimes on the boneyard ... you just have to laugh when certain Players show up.

I'm obviously biased, but I'm with the OP, for one reason in particular: UConn basketball is not, and has never been, dominant on the recruiting trail. To me, the fact that we've won four championships in the last 16 years, with - save for a couple notable hold-overs on the last team - four entirely different rosters is much more impressive than professional sports teams winning with the same players every year. Of course the Patriots have had a dominant run, Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks of all-time. Of course the Spurs have had a dominant run, Tim Duncan is one of the best basketball players ever. You get the point. In football, Alabama has dominated, sure, but they have the luxury of trotting out more four and five star talent on their practice squad than 99% of D-1 programs have on their whole roster.

Of course, UConn doesn't recruit nobodies, they've signed quite a few four and five star players themselves. But in comparison to other elite programs - Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, UNC, etc. - the contrast in McDonald's all-American talent is jarring. UConn is the best program in the country at identifying, developing, and maximizing talent, and there isn't a close second.

I hope a day comes where we can just enjoy what we are a part of, and not be in a position of trying to defend, compare, justify or explain UConn basketball. We are the Kings of College Basketball with no challengers in the foreseeable future.

That's an excellent position to be in, irrespective of symbols, labels and other's defining us.

Its great to be a fan of the King.
