In the middle of the second half, we had a tall, nicely balanced unit of Stef, Kiah, Kaleena, Bria, and Brianna. I thought to myself--that's 2 sophs and 3 frosh. And they played like veterans. Yikes!

Starting to get more and more excited about next season. And I'm excited about the rest of this one too.

Well, Banks either needs to brush up on her 3-ball, or focus more on getting to the hole (preferred option) ....!! She also does the penetrate-and-dish very nicely. It's like she's doing it in slow-mo, even though she's not....

BB caused some havoc with the K-State passing lanes last night. The guards K-State guards had a look of relief when Bria went to the bench but they didn't get a respite with Brianna's defense.

Brianna took 3 open treys and missed all of them. She did hit 1 or 2 shots. She also had a nice dump off that got fumbled. I think she needs to learn the halfcourt offense, but she's got speed and skills. She gets to the rack very well, especially on the left side. PG college this summer??

As we get deeper into the tournament I think that Brianna and Heather will play very important roles, if we are to succeed.

As evidenced in last night's game, Caroline will have difficulty with quick/athletic guards. Much less so for Brianna.

Although we haven't seen it yet, I expect to see Kiah and Heather on the court together if and when we play a team like TN.

And I certainly hope that coach A remembers Heather if and when we play ND or Baylor.

Peace,

John Fryer

I'm lovin Kiah! Hope CD sees the postives in her game today rather than the negatives (if any).
Believe me, Geno and CD see the positives, probably even more clearly than she does. They just want to see them every practice, every game, every possession. And theyre once bitten twice shy; Geno famously said in 2009 that every time he told Tina she was a great player she'd feel like she'd accomplished something and relax.

Kiah came to UConn to become the best player she could be. When the light comes on all the time, she will be incredible. Her frame, her ease of movement, and her athleticism are off the charts.

Look at it this way: yes she missed three threes in a row (at least) but she's bound to make one someday (law of averages) and that will be in a game when the 3 point shot will be needed, perhaps?
