You don't really need this explained, do you? Or have you just totally made an assumption based on what I originally said?

I'd also like a clarification on this. How does shortening the shot clock give broadcasters the opportunity to show more commercials?
 
If they wanted to show more commercials, they'd just add more deadball TV timeouts. No shot clock changes necessary.

And if you don't change the number of TV timeouts, you still have to wait for a deadball at the right time, so it doesn't matter how the shot clock is flowing.
