28 teams would mean more teams in FBS football make the playoff than D1 basketball teams making March Madness by percentage. CFB used to be the sport with the most important regular season in all of American sports. Laughable.

If you eliminate conference championships at what point does it make sense to eliminate conferences? The ACC already took a step in that direction with unequal revenue distribution. At some point do we just go to a "every man for himself" model? The logic is pretty much the same. "We want to reward teams who invest in college football"

If the proposal of 7-7-5-5 for the P4 comes to fruition then I think that actually “saves” the ACC and B12. Let’s be honest, the 5th best in those conferences are mediocre.

These are the teams that are gonna be in it was intending to have 40 teams in but 36 will have to do. Lowest seed will always play highest seed as playoffs advance.

The only difference is I would have a receiving votes tourney whoever wins that plays the 25th ranked in order to get into 25 team tournament. Then teams 16 and under play each other to get into field of 16 as explained in that other thread. Then you have a 16 team tourney. Lowest ranked team always plays highest ranked team thus being ranked higher does matter.

I would still have conference championship games so it would make the regular season meaningful there's extra motivation to being in the top 15, you lose on championship week it's possible you go from having to win 4 games (falling out of top 15) to all of the sudden having to win at minimum 5 possibly 9 games to win it all in the 25 team tourney.

Turning CFB into WBB but circa 1998. The CFP is one year old and in that one year there were only 3 or 4 watchable games. The auto byes didn't show up and the bubble teams got blown out.
