-> The Huskies last played CCSU in 2021 in the first game ever played at Elliot Ballpark, defeating the Blue Devils 2-0 behind a strong pitching performance from Pat Gallagher. All-time the Huskies are 33-9 against Central Connecticut. <-

CCSU RPI is currently @ 179
UConn is @ 52

Central is a good team this year. They just beat Bryant, the other good NEC team in their series this past weekend. They have Frank Mozzicato’s older brother Anthony who’s typically their Sunday starter so he won’t be throwing tomorrow but their lineup has some talent. Noah Martinez is their best player and he could very well win NEC player of the year

Not an ideal start but a lot of time to get it back. Chudoba got roughed up for sure

The Albino Rhino cuts the lead in half and it’s 4-2 Central

Bottom 1st, UConn loads the bases with 2 outs, Huber with a single and an outfield throwing error brings in 2 runs, 2 runners in scoring position. Wild pitch brings in another run to make it 4-3 Central. Good early comeback for UConn.

Alejandro now pitching for UConn in the top of the 2nd.

Great response in the bottom half of that first inning to cut the deficit to one

Cole Chudoba gets the start…

Quick comment on the lineup. Bushling's on base percentage has really declined in recent games, so I definitely approve of Simmons replacing him in the leadoff spot for now.

Top 2nd, Alejandro strands 2 runners in scoring position. 4-3 Central.

.-.
Bottom 2nd, Kevin Ferrer with a leadoff double (a welcome return from injury, for sure). Smith with a no out rbi single to tie the game at 4. Padilla with a 1 out infield rbi single makes it 5-4 UConn.

Bottom 2nd, Casey Dana with a 1 out rbi double to make it 6-4 UConn.

.-.
Top 3rd, with 2 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd, Alejandro is taken out of the game. Devin Kirby in to pitch. A fly out ends the inning. 9-4 UConn.

Bottom 3rd, Simmons with a 2 out solo homer. 10-4 UConn.

It will be interesting to see who gets to pitch in these two midweek games for the Huskies.

Top 4th, a 1 out rbi triple scores a run for Central. 10-5 UConn. 1 out RBI single makes it 10-6. With 2 out and runners on the corners, Brendan O'Donnell comes in to pitch, who gets a ground out to end the inning with no more runs coming in.

Bottom 4th, Stock with a leadoff double. Casey Dana with a no out RBI single, 11-6 UConn. Another pitching change, seems like there will be plenty of them today for both teams. With the bases loaded and 2 out, Smith drives in 2 runs with an rbi single to make it 13-6 UConn. Simmons drives in 2 more runs with a triple, 15-6 UConn.

Top 5th, O'Donnell gives up a lead off single, but then gets 3 straight outs, including 2 on strikeouts. 15-6 UConn.

Top 6th, O'Donnell gets a ground out, then comes out of the game. Ian Cooke in to pitch. a 1-2-3 inning for UConn pitchers. I'm surprised Cooke would be used in a game with a 8 run UConn lead, but that's bullpen management for you.

Bottom 6th, UConn leaves 2 runners on base, it's the first inning where the Huskies did not score. 18-6 UConn.

Oops, that should be a 12 run UConn lead, not 8.
