Quotes are from Jere Quinn:

"He enjoyed (UConn) but he is looking forward to his visit this weekend. He’s not making any decisions until he goes to visit Louisville.”

“He’s always had two places he’s liked the most (Louisville and Connecticut),” Quinn said. “Iowa is here today to talk to him as well, but he’s really intrigued and really interested in Louisville and excited to go. He certainly looked at Connecticut because it’s in the east and Louisville has always been his ideal school. So he’s very intrigued to go this weekend.”

Its hard to believe there's not more worry for the kid about more sanctions against Ville.

I assume this is someone paraphrasing the kids words, so I'll refrain from saying "N-E-X....." for the moment.

Yikes at those jere Quinn quotes!

Hard to believe he just went through UNLV and all that coaching instability and looking at a situation like Louisville where u don't know if Pitino survives???

Feels like someone has to b pushing Louisvillle to the kid, but who knows.

Well he did just say he was looking forward to the visit. Frankly as a HS kid, who wouldn't be looking forward to a lap dance.

Honestly, these are just the normal stock answers that recruits and coaches usually give. Look up the recruitment stories from Jalen Adams and Alterique Gilbert and you'll see similar quotes about Louisville, Kansas and the other schools chasing them. I mean, Alterique Gilbert said Syracuse was his dream school and that didn't matter at all.

To tell you the truth, whatever happens with Vital happens.

from the start I wasn't crazy about this recruit mostly because of Makai.

Why would you be worried about a future prospect for next year's decision right now?
I mean I get maybe 10 plus years ago but with the way things work with the high propensity of transferring, leaving for pro and such it makes no sense.

Plus plain and simple, one of two things will be determined by next year (or whenever he makes his decision) either Vital didn't play well enough to be a threat to Makai's minutes and Makai will know coming in that he will take minutes from Vital, or Vital played really well and is deserving of big minutes. Which either way works out well for UCONN. It's not like Vital would be our 6th guard we are taking and we wouldn't have a scholly for Makai.

I seem to be in the minority here, but I won't be overly concerned if Vital goes with Lville. He seems like a decent player but certainly not a game changer for us. I fully understand that we need another guard, but KO will get the job done. This isn't some 5 star stud we would be missing out on. Still hope he picks us, but not the end of the world either way.

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would choose to go to Louisville over UConn to play men's basketball in 2016. I get that Pitino is Pitino but he is a sleazebag and their program is in a whole mess of trouble. To choose him over KO to me is plain nuts.

Meh quote was from his high school coach, so at best paraphrasing, at worst inserting his own feelings.

These are kids, if L-Ville is his ideal school good for him for getting that opportunity. We want guys that have UConn as their ideal school and dream of putting our uniform on.

It makes it more exciting to play them come tourney time so they think about what may have been after they lose to us.

Agree. Pitino will probably keep is job because well, it's Louisville, but there has to be at least some doubt in the kid's mind.

You want to play Tulsa, Tulane and a brace of directional Floridas or Duke, UNC, Virginia and whoever else?

There's more in play than just Pitino vs Ollie.

Understood and I agree 100%. However, I would think their current situation would be a factor. But, there's no figuring people in general, let alone 18 year old kids.

That is why it saddens me to see a player like Vann not end up at UConn.
