Looks like we got some really talented kids. Sure I'd love to land a 5 star every other year or so and then a bunch of 4 stars to go along with them, and it would not surprise me to see Ollie start pulling in kids like that on a consistent basis. Selfishly I hope we avoid the 1 and dones unless they are a key component in a NC run.
But that's just me. I mean we won the NC last year without Drummond, and our starting back court was a 4th year senior and 3rd year junior. Don't get me wrong - loved landing Drummond, but I'd rather the 1/done be the exception rather than the rule...
Perhaps, but we've won 1 NC approx every 4-5 years since we got the first one. Seems what JC and Ollie have done has worked better than any other coach out there. Of course more talent is better, but I'll take what we've done any day over Kansas, Duke or UNC...If we can recruit guards who become all-time great players and win us a title, than that would be great. However, relying on that seems like a tough formula to keep up.
If we want to consistently be a top 2-3 seed in the tourney and have a good chance of winning it, than we need to bring in as much talent as possible. that will include a lot of 1 and dones and 2 and dones due to how NBA teams draft. It ironically is the most consistent way to make sure a program is one of the top teams in the country each year.
So while I like a mix, I think it should be closer to two 5 stars and two 4 stars each year assuming Ollie can bring in a couple of top 25 players each year.

Far enough. Can't really argue that more talent ISN'T better... I guess I just want to see us win more NC's, and then we can work backwards and see what strategies worked best!It would be fantastic to keep the formula of guard centric teams with veteran leadership, but I think it's more of sure bet to go with a few more 5 star players than we have previously gotten.

Govan now at #14
Turtle at #41
Prince at #46
Jalen Adams at #50
IIRC we were the first big program to offer, and have been in the lead on him for a while. He's also close. 3 says we are in a very good place with him. Only thing is now that KO just won a championship in his first tournament, he's getting some attention from some other highly rated bigs like Stone and Diallo, who have become potential gets now. I don't think Govan has made a Chuckwu-esque comment regarding our current bigs here or to whom we've been paying attention.Coach K has been watching Govan recently and Duke is starting to show interest. Does this complicate the situation for us or have we been on him long enough to hold off anyone new? Im guessing that it is us or the hoyas but most of these kids seem to love K even though he does the least with the most talent. It has to say something to a recruit when a team like Duke that recently recruited so well do so little with all the 5 star talent they bring in. I probably dislike coach Calipari less than I do Coach K but at least does a little something with the talent he brings in.

Yeah I said the same thing when I saw Kaleb Tarczewski of Arizona at St. Mark's in high school. Couldn't understand how he was so highly rated. I guess I'm just a terrible talent evaluator! I do think it's tougher to judge big men in high school. They don't have the ball much so it's harder to notice them. I do remember that Tarczewski moved really well for a 7 footer and you could tell he was athletic for someone that big. But his hands were terrible and he missed a million bunnies and had trouble holding on to the ball on rebounds. I guess with big men you start with height and athleticism and figure you can work from there.Sorry...have seen Sharma a few times in person. Not impressed. Next.
