Gotta win tomorrow, too. Cincinnati is probably the worst team in the league despite throwimg together a few conference wins.
Don't really agree that they are the worst team in the league, even if they are it is not very clear cut. I would have pegged Memphis as the worst team in the league up until they almost swept Houston last weekend. Hard to tell any thing in the AAC right now, other than ECU being the team to beat. Regardless it is hard to call a team that took 2 out of 3 at USF to open the conference season the worst team in the league.

I had a UConn day with the kids today - football event in the morning, baseball in the afternoon. Lots of free UConn swag. This was my first time at DDP - it’s very nice. We had great seats for a reasonable price. Kersten was great - he does a good job of keeping composure when he gets in trouble. It was frustrating to load the bases with one out and only get a run on a walk. I would stick with C-Mo at 3b on weekends. With 2 kids I only lasted through the 6th so I missed Wallace and the Toppa blast.

No. 22 BSB Evens Series vs. Cincy, 5-1

Notes
  • UConn moves to 6-3 this season against left-handed starters.
  • The Huskies are 14-3 when they score at least five runs.
  • UConn is 5-1 when it hits two home runs or more
  • Jake Wallace has thrown 14.1 consecutive scoreless innings in his last nine appearances.
  • The Huskies are 7-1 in games that Jeff Kersten starts this season.

Yea 5 runs seems to be our magic number. Getting there consistently with this lineup should not be difficult, hopefully we can continue to manufacture tough at bats.

I feel much better about options at RF (Nucerino, Fedko, Chiovitti) than 3B (Langer, Morriarty, Lucas, Phillips) going forward.

Langer does seem to be earning additional looks with his bat of late. His offense has picked up this week.

At the end of today...
  • Tulane took two from Wichita State 12-6 and 8-4
  • ECU took two from Houston 15-3 and 3-1
  • UCF was ahead of USF 5-0 in the T7 when the game was suspended for rain. To be continued before their game 3 tomorrow,
  • Memphis took two from Southern University 14-12 and 10-1 in non-conference action.

Had the UConn double as well today. A couple of observations:

Lucas is totally lost and got pulled during the 5th inning after his error on a routine throw. He needs time to adjust and get back within himself.

Langer hit a moon shot. C Mo had some good at bats and those 2 would be my 3rd base choices.

Nucerino has started to cook. He helps that bottom of the lineup out immensely.

Jeff Kersten get it done again. Not sure how, but he does it.

Wurster and Dandeneau are very effective. The bullpen depth is outstanding.

When did Wallace add 5mph to his fastball in a year? He is lights out.

Cinnci is not bad. They look much better and their pitching, while not outstanding, looks competant. Weimer made a great play in left and is an all or nothing hitter and the rest of the team isn't bad. I expected a sweep and now we just need Jimmy Wang to perform tomorrow and the bats be patient and we should be ok.
