From my skewed perspective . . .

IF the poll ranking has no effect on our tournament seeding,

THEN I prefer us to be ranked as lowly as possible, within reason.

Because I always prefer for them not to see us coming. If we finish out this year the way I expect to finish out this year, and a few things fall into place (Daniels hits a bit more of a stride, Boat keeps playing within the flow of offense, Giffey and Kromah keep hitting open shots, and so on) then the ideal for me would be to be ranked about 17 and get a 4 seed.

We go into the tourni with a somewhat not imposing 17 rank and a decent 4 seed, and we steamroll some m-----f-----s who didn't see us coming because they believed the polls.

Look at the resumes and tell me on what planet should UK be ranked ahead of UConn or Texas?

Creighton jumped much higher than I thought they would (up to 11), and Iowa State dropped futher than I thought they would (11 to 17), although with the shellacking they recieved from West Virginia it makes sense.

I'm surprised Florida only got one first-place vote. Set aside the undefeated record, it's pretty obvious which of those two teams is playing better basketball recently.

Garbage, not that it matters now, but garbage.

Too bad we couldn't have held on versus Cincy on the road. That win would have us at least 10-15th overall.

That loss and the Stanford loss are going to bother me, because we had control of that game for the first 30-35 minutes.

The ACC is a three team league this year: UVa, Syracuse, and Duke. UNC and Pitt are meh. Where Syracuse's luck may run out is that they only play UVa and Duke a total of 3 times, and only have Duke at home. Virginia, on the other hand, only had Duke on the road and Syracuse at Home.

I wouldn't be surprised if Syracuse loses at Duke and at Virginia (both tough places to play), and then ends up not winning the league because they get no return game from Virginia.

Other than Syracuse, Virginia's remaining schedule is a joke.

More then the Houston loss?

Because that loss hurt us the most imo!

Duke has beaten #18 and #22 . Lost to #5, #4, and #2. Yet they are #6 with bad losses to ND and Clemson as well. Please justify!
They're playing really well right now, and while Notre Dame and Clemson are two losses, their others are to Kansas, Syracuse, and a full strength Arizona. And they played those three games close (neutral and road). I'd say their a Top 10 team, although probably not Top 5.

ya thats pretty random. polls affected a lot by preseason rank and timing of your losses. louisville only has 3 wins vs the top 100 the entire year. after us their best win is southern miss @ home and their best road win is against temple (according to rpi, 171)

Normally I would argue that polls don't matter that much, but they clearly do for seeding. I'd much rather be a 4 seed than a 5 or 6, and getting up to a 3 seed means we don't face a 1 seed till the elite 8. UCONN has 1 really bad loss (Houston) and one kinda bad loss (Stanford). Losing to SMU, Louisville, and Cinci are nothing to be ashamed of. But I'm kind of surprised Michigan (7 losses), Kentucky (6), Iowa (6), and 5 loss Texas and ISU are ranked ahead of us.

why would you much rather be a 4 seed than a 5 or 6? difference in championship/final four equity seems extremely negligible. 3 seed, sure

Stanford has crawled into the RPI Top 50, and Lunardi has them as a 9 seed. It's a frustrating loss because it was easily winnable, but it isn't nearly as bad a loss as people said about a month ago.
