Simply awesome. Liking the cut of his jib more and more. That midwestern simplicity of speech and straightforwardness. And with a whole new team, a spring game is almost a requirement to see what you have. There may be only 5K in the stands (if that) but that is the core. The base that needs to be re-energized.

One other thing. Notice how this gets us looking forward?

The school should "incentivize" getting butts in the seats. I'm not sure what that looks like, but maybe discounts on season ticket packages, free food (I would say free beers, but that creates a liability issue), invite every high school team to attend and otherwise do whatever you can to make it a semi decent turnout. I wasn't thrilled about Mora leaving, particularly the way he left, but his departure creates a rebranding opportunity. The school would be smart to jump on that to create buzz for the program and the Candle era.

I'm curious to see the relationship between HC Candle and HC Hurley, one being from the friendly confines of Ohio and the other from Jersey. Should be quite the yin and yang.

True…but I don’t think Candle is that different from Mora. It wasn’t like Mora was a NE guy.
 
I love how he said that he needs to see what he has out there. I think he means that in terms of how they perform and that he legitimately doesn’t fully know what all he has seeing how he brought in over 50 players!!! 😂

My favorite spring game to watch was when Edsall was in the TV booth and describing what was going right and wrong. I learned a little bit.

Hopefully the game will be on UConn +?

I was about to ask this question….but I found the answer and thought I would bump this thread.

Spring practice starts on Tuesday….very cool. gonna be interesting to hear how Candle runs the camp and how the team looks.

I would love to hear what some of the players who have been there think about the difference between a Mora camp and a Candle camp.

why do i need tickets if it is a free event? limited parking? if one decides to just show up, you cant get in?
 
Anyone know the format of the “game”. Will it be a game? Or alternating offensive set pieces? Or a glorified practice?

I’m going. And have gone even when it was a scrimmage/practice, but it’d be fun to see a real blue vs white game like the old days.

The cynic in me says they know more will likely claim than will show up. If they report "tickets distributed" the PR is better. For those who just decide to show up, you simply download tickets when you pull into the Rent (Parking is free so you can still show up).

Either way... looking forward to a spring tailgate and the first look at next year's team.

If for no other reason than to learn which names go with which numbers. And if it is nice out, to bask a little bit. It feels like HCJC is a little old school. Guessing it will be more like a game than a controlled scrimmage. But either way will be fine.
