I have no reason to not believe that these recruits aren’t an upgrade from the recruits that were previously committed under Mora.

LOL. I didn't realize Bongo Fury was a lawyer. No other way to explain that sentence. (And yes, I resemble that remark.)
Do these recruits look any less talented than the ones we’ve pulled the past 2 years? Gotta let Candle settle inLegit worry. My concern is Candle has been living off the leftover scraps of a local hunting ground to build competitive MAC teams. Rebuilding a high level MAC won’t hunt here. But, got to give it time.
Toledo’s recruiting classes last few years were rated much higher than Mora’s classes at UConn.Do these recruits look any less talented than the ones we’ve pulled the past 2 years? Gotta let Candle settle in
Here is Logan’s recent write up by Toledo on their recent signing day recap:
“Logan Barnes is listed as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 35 player in Indiana's class of 2026 by Rivals. A four-sport athlete at Marion High School, Barnes has won All-North Central Athletic Conference honors in football, baseball, basketball and track. A triple threat athlete at Marion, Barnes threw for 702 yards with two passing touchdowns, rushed for 675 yards with seven rushing touchdowns, and earned 400 receiving yards with five receiving touchdowns.“
How do you play baseball and track? Is it not the same season as track?
Love multi-sport guys though
Did it myself in High School. How do you play baseball and track? Is it not the same season as track?

First they made sure there were no baseball games or track meets on the same day. I was allowed to get some running in during physical ed classes. Somehow it worked out. How? Do they let you compete in track without practicing or something? Indoor track?

Did we become an A10 team when Hurley brought in a couple of Rhody guys?We have to trust the coach but two thoughts come to mind: Toledo must have had a really good class or we're becoming a MAC team.
I went to HS in NY.Ahh I see. I don't think the CIAC allows that.
Rules have changed a lot since I was in High School, but had a classmate who did track and baseball. A couple of times on the same day. Massachusetts rules later changed to not allow a player to complete in two sporting events in the same day.indoor track or gave up baseball for outdoor track later in HS
Pointless reply. Who's making judgements other than you regarding other peoples' motives. Sounds as if you're just looking for cheap likes.Stop please. It’s way, way too late in the recruiting season to be trying to fill your freshman class without looking at kids you already have a relationship with. You bring in the best freshmen you can, if in a year or two you determine they aren’t going to be good enough they transfer out. How about if we make no judgments on whether he can up the level of recruits he gets until next year?
I said I'm trusting the decision. Why try to make that a negative? We hired a very good coach from the MAC. He has to get bodies quickly, so he’s going to what he knows and who he has relations with. Don’t see this as an issue.
Mora did the same thing.
Ha, I meant 4.5 to 4.55.5.0 to 5.5 40?
That would be considered slow to extremely slow for an offensive lineman.
Agreed. I meant 4.5 to 4.55. So I still would like to know if 4.5 to 4.55 is considered fast for a 6’4” receiver. It should have been obvious that I was under the influence and impaired at the time I posted 5.0 to 5.5. I wasn’t born yesterday….I doubt there are many, if any college wide receivers who can’t run a sub 5.0 in the 40.
They don’tAhh I see. I don't think the CIAC allows that.

This. I can't wait for the signing portion of portal season to officially begin. I have a feeling a lot of us will be quite happy with the dudes we bring inI have little doubt the top players in Toledo's recruiting class can compete for starting positions at UConn.
I also have little doubt Candle and his staff will look for immediate impact players in the transfer portal to keep UConn strong.
Yes thats fast for a hs kid let alone nfl prospects at the combine at that height. Allen Lazard ran a 4.55 at the combineAgreed. I meant 4.5 to 4.55. Understandable but look at the bright side you still have your Jets ; )I don't want to be a MAC team.
I know recruits > no recruitsWe have no idea how good these recruits are. I have no reason to not believe that these recruits aren’t an upgrade from the recruits that were previously committed under Mora.
UConn’s high school classes under Mora were not good - which tbf - was not his main strategy. Were consistently lower 1/3. Toledo was usually upper half of FBS.If I recall correctly, Toledo's recruiting classes have been rated better than UConn's the last couple years.
A huge chunk of a tiny class. Not a big deal.We lost a huge chunk of our recruits after Mora left. This at least creates a baseline for Candle, his future classes may even improve. Besides, we should be more focused on the portal for this upcoming season.
The “leftover scraps” constituted much better recruiting classes than UConn year after year.Legit worry. My concern is Candle has been living off the leftover scraps of a local hunting ground to build competitive MAC teams. Rebuilding a high level MAC won’t hunt here. But, got to give it time.
And we hired 60-year-old Mora off the street, did we not? Feel like everything about the hire and what transpired since is better than where we were and what we had on paper in 2021We hired a very good coach from the MAC. He has to get bodies quickly, so he’s going to what he knows and who he has relations with. Don’t see this as an issue.
