I have little doubt the top players in Toledo's recruiting class can compete for starting positions at UConn.

I also have little doubt Candle and his staff will look for immediate impact players in the transfer portal to keep UConn strong.

Agreed. I meant 4.5 to 4.55. So I still would like to know if 4.5 to 4.55 is considered fast for a 6’4” receiver. It should have been obvious that I was under the influence and impaired at the time I posted 5.0 to 5.5. I wasn’t born yesterday….

Yes thats fast for a hs kid let alone nfl prospects at the combine at that height. Allen Lazard ran a 4.55 at the combine

We have no idea how good these recruits are. I have no reason to not believe that these recruits aren’t an upgrade from the recruits that were previously committed under Mora.

I know recruits > no recruits

If I recall correctly, Toledo's recruiting classes have been rated better than UConn's the last couple years.

UConn’s high school classes under Mora were not good - which tbf - was not his main strategy. Were consistently lower 1/3. Toledo was usually upper half of FBS.

We lost a huge chunk of our recruits after Mora left. This at least creates a baseline for Candle, his future classes may even improve. Besides, we should be more focused on the portal for this upcoming season.

Legit worry. My concern is Candle has been living off the leftover scraps of a local hunting ground to build competitive MAC teams. Rebuilding a high level MAC won’t hunt here. But, got to give it time.

The “leftover scraps” constituted much better recruiting classes than UConn year after year.

I will gladly see how it works out with the “scraps.”

We hired a very good coach from the MAC. He has to get bodies quickly, so he’s going to what he knows and who he has relations with. Don’t see this as an issue.

Mora did the same thing.

And we hired 60-year-old Mora off the street, did we not? Feel like everything about the hire and what transpired since is better than where we were and what we had on paper in 2021
