Definitely an offensive lineman name.What a name….
What a name….
I'd like it better on a LB. Put the Hammer down!!!!Definitely an offensive lineman name.
I need it on a shirt.What a name….
for those curious
his name would be pronounced "Hah-niss", auf deutsch.
it may be tempting to call him "Hans"; that would be incorrect.
it's kinda like "brendan" and "brandon" - similar, but not the same name.
Hammer is... well... Hammer.
In German, "hammer" is a literal hammer, but it also means "dope/sick/gnarly" - so truly this name ist HAMMER.
K"Das is der Hammer" literally translates to "That is the hammer", but means "That's awesome". Du bist der Hammer = You're awesome, UCONN ist der Hammer = UCONN is awesome.
I think I would tend to pronounce it Hah-ness, as I do for friends of mine by that name. Doesn't really matter though.
Nice to see international athletes at UCONN - from Germany we have had: Alex Honig, Eric Reibe, Niels Giffey, Marc Suhr and others - especially some of Geno's international stars.
