She sort of fell in love with the three-pointer as the season wore on this year. Spent a lot of time camped out in the corners. Not many rebounds out there. That could actually be a real advantage for our chances. By the way regardless of how she was used at Florida, I would think of her as a 4 not a 5 like on bballnut90's excellent list, and more a face up than post up 4 at that.
Did I suggest this before:You can add Me'arah O'Neal from Florida to your great cumulative list
The funny part is she is officially listed as a guard lolThat could actually be a real advantage for our chances. By the way regardless of how she was used at Florida, I would think of her as a 4 not a 5 like on bballnut90's excellent list, and more a face up than post up 4 at that.
She might need the money. 😂At least we know that she doesn’t need the money. That is unless her allowance isn’t that much.
Thank you for compiling this list. Noteable that with only a few days to go, there is no interest in UConn.Updated 4/14

Quotes from Shaq:
"I tell them [his kids] all the time. We ain’t rich. I'm rich."
“My kids are older now. They’re kinda upset with me. Not really upset, but they don’t understand. I tell them all the time. We ain't rich. I'm rich.”
“You [speaking of his children] gotta have bachelor’s or master’s [degrees], and then if you want me to invest in one of your companies, you’re going to have to present it, boom boom boom, bring it to me. I’ll let you know, I’m not giving you nothing.”
"I don’t care if you play basketball. I don’t care about none of that," he said. "Listen, I have six kids. I would like a doctor, someone who owns a hedge fund, a pharmacist, a lawyer, someone who owns multiple businesses, someone to take over my business. But I tell them I’m not giving this to you. You have to earn it."
Perhaps, although UConn is traditionally quiet on both the recruiting and transfer hunt. Do I know there's anything going on? Nope. However I'd almost bet that the staff is looking carefully to find a puzzle piece that fits with who is already there. I get it though, the silence is maddening.Thank you for compiling this list. Noteable that with only a few days to go, there is no interest in UConn.
UConn is likely just looking to pick up one player..........if they can't get that player, they will go with what they have........somehow, I think they'll be "OK" either way.....😊Thank you for compiling this list. Noteable that with only a few days to go, there is no interest in UConn.
Skylar Forbes, Marquette, SF - 15.5 ppg, 4.9 rpb, 1 year eligibility left. Any credibility to the statement that Geno will not recruit from the Big East? She is going somewhere anyway, so why not UConn. Watched her play, incredible talent, 1 year left.Perhaps, although UConn is traditionally quiet on both the recruiting and transfer hunt. Not sure that he would or wouldn't, however he just recently commented about the portal being really bad for mid majors. I would think/hope that if he did see someone of interest, he'd reach out to the BE coach and have a discussion.Skylar Forbes, Marquette, SF - 15.5 ppg, 4.9 rpb, 1 year eligibility left. Good player. Who’s minutes are you going to reduce so she can play: Sarah or Blanca?Skylar Forbes, Marquette, SF - 15.5 ppg, 4.9 rpb, 1 year eligibility left. At her best, Skylar is almost as good as Aaliyah was in her senior season -- a good shooter from the elbow in, a decent defender and rebounder and has pretty good post moves. This says she's a natural 4, not a 3. She's also used to being the foundation for the players around her. One skill Aaliyah brought that Skylar might not have yet is driving the baseline and down the lane. But this is something she can develop.Good player. That’s fine. But if you put Forbes on the court with Sarah & Blanca, then the question becomes, “Who’s minutes are you going to reduce so she can play: Jana, Gandy, Olivia or all of the above?”At her best, Skylar is almost as good as Aaliyah was in her senior season -- a good shooter from the elbow in, a decent defender and rebounder and has pretty good post moves. Could Geno figure out how to design an offensive position for Skylar next to Sarah and Blanca? There is no question in my mind that he can. Like them, she's perhaps better playing face to the basket than back to the basket. She is also likely very familiar with the way UConn plays. Of all the 6'3" players he could bring in, the learning curve for her is probably shortest. She is also a likely draftee next April.
This question can be asked of anyone Geno brings in, not just Skylar. This is why it isn't clear that adding a transfer to the roster is a net benefit. There will be a cost. The real question is whether the benefit outweighs the cost. That’s fine. Since she's already in the portal, I see no reason why Geno couldn't reach out to Cara, the Marquette coach to make sure she is okay with it.........of course, the player would have to have mutual interest too.....Not sure that he would or wouldn't, however he just recently commented about the portal being really bad for mid majors. both.....and that's a good thing......Good player. Who’s minutes are you going to reduce so she can play: Sarah or Blanca?
I think the answer is neither. The main avenue for her getting minutes is being the option when either or both are off the floor. More of a threat to Morgan and Ashlynn's minutes, and maybe Olivia at the 4. Forbes has the advantage of maybe being a reserve candidate at the 3 or 4, but if she has to have starter minutes it won't be here. That is generally the scenario with potential 4's as well, although if someone is good enough there Sarah could play the 3.Good player. If she's as good as I think, she could get 15 - 20 minutes a game with a guarantee to go deep into the NCAA Tournament in her final year......I don't think she'd get much more playing time at any of the top contenders either....I think the answer is neither. The problem is trying to get the best player available at the position of greatest need (PF), who is behind the national player of the year on the depth chart. Unless Sarah plays a lot elsewhere (possible if a new 4 is very good) the playing time will be limited. Just the way it is this year, we might have to dip down a tier or two to find someone willing to accept a lessor role than they had previously, but on a championship contender.
Jovana 10 minutes????? The same as Gandy?????????This question can be asked of anyone Geno brings in, not just Skylar. This is why it isn't clear that adding a transfer to the roster is a net benefit. There will be a cost. The real question is whether the benefit outweighs the cost.
If we mean to do an inventory of minutes available, that's easy enough. Last season, Sarah averaged ~27 minutes, Blanca ~20, Ash 27, KK 25, Kayleigh 19, Allie 18, Jana 11, Kelis 6, Gandy 2. My guess is by the end of next season we'll see a distribution roughly like this:
If you imagine a transfer fitting in, their minutes are likely to come mainly from the position group she'd inhabit. If it's Forbes Brown O'Neal or Moore, that is likely to mean Jana Morgan Olivia and Gandy. In November and December, I expect we'll see a lot of players getting substantial minutes, maybe as many as 12. By the end of January, that list will have shrunk to something more manageable, maybe as few as 8 or 9. If the transfer has earned rotation minutes, it will come from a smaller group. In any event, some redistribution will have to be accomplished.

There's simply no way to know who's getting how many minutes at this point other than Sara and Blanca.......I assume KK will start along with Sara, Blanca, Ashlyn and I believe soon into the season the Big "O"This question can be asked of anyone Geno brings in, not just Skylar. To all who suggest various rotational options for Forbes or any other transfer to UConn, my point is simply that someone else loses minutes. That’s fine if there is a net benefit to the team. But I pointed out the situation with Serah and Jana as a cautionary tale. It’s hard to view the transfer of Serah to UConn as a net benefit to the team.
Me too. I was ecstatic when UConn got Serah, and I was certain she would be a 1st round pick in the W.Easy to say this after the fact. I bet that when Serah signed, everyone was jumping up and down, celebrating. If I remember correctly, even Geno said something like Serah was going to be a first-round draft pick this year.
Unless you want Sara and Blanca averaging 30 minutes plus next season, there better be somebody who can cover for them when they need a rest.....that could be partly Morgan if she's healthy but who's going to cover an athletic 6'3" forward if they are both out of the game?To all who suggest various rotational options for Forbes or any other transfer to UConn, my point is simply that someone else loses minutes. I hope that Sarah & Blanca average 30+ next season. They are young, fit and able to play big minutes when they have to. They will get plenty of rest during UConn’s blowouts. During March Madness, 30+ minutes is an absolute given for your star players.Unless you want Sara and Blanca averaging 30 minutes plus next season, there better be somebody who can cover for them when they need a rest.....that could be partly Morgan if she's healthy but who's going to cover an athletic 6'3" forward if they are both out of the game?
Sara averaged 27 minutes a game last season and Blanca averaged 20 minutes.....Azzi led the team with more than 28 minutes a game.....as the season progressed, Sara seemed to be running out of gas on occasion......without Azzi, she will be the major focus of UConn's opponents, so playing more than 30 minutes a game may wear her down by NC season.....I'd prefer to see her at under 30 minutes and Blanca the same......I hope that Sarah & Blanca average 30+ next season. It’s hard to read anything from UConn players average PT for an entire season. We know that the Huskies play in many blowout games where the starters sit in the 4th qtr. So if we’re going to assess Sarah and Blanca’s real PT, we need to look at the biggest games in March, during the Big Dance.Sara averaged 27 minutes a game last season and Blanca averaged 20 minutes.....Azzi led the team with more than 28 minutes a game.....as the season progressed, Sara seemed to be running out of gas on occasion......without Azzi, she will be the major focus of UConn's opponents, so playing more than 30 minutes a game may wear her down by NC season.....I'd prefer to see her at under 30 minutes and Blanca the same......
