2026 Transfer portal

are you just as disgusted with the salaries that coaches make?
Yes...for sure. The problem isn't as prevalent in WCBB, but to pay anyone multiple millions of dollars to coach a college sports team is absurd; a lot of that money could go toward the public good.

LSU a perfect example of waste. All that money spent this year alone on buyouts and coaching salaries could be used a lot more wisely to improve much of the poverty pervasive in the state of Louisiana. But noone seems to care.

Priorities are just so messed up in our country.

Yup. Add in UNC's $50M contract with Mike Malone for 6 years that has some insane buyout numbers too. 😬

Wow. Just wow.
I'm getting sensations that I felt after last season when seemingly the whole Irish team was either graduating or transferring.
But ND had Hannah Hidalgo, KK Bransford and Cass Prosper (for a year). But a Stanford team that seemed to be getting better has just left the gym. Regardless of the purported reasons, it's still heart-rendering, even gutting. My sympathies to all Farm fans, particularly one on this board.
Thanks. There's a lot going on behind the scenes and the AD is involved. I will try to post more later but the TL;DR is allegations of abuse from the coaching staff and the number of players leaving and the messages they're sending on the way out would seem to confirm, at a minimum, some significant discontent with our coaches.

I saw this and it’s not making a ton of sense considering we have 4 guards (as of now) 5’9 or smaller on the depth chart for next season.
Skim showed an image of a pondering Geno with no description. Previously she showed an image of a frustrated Geno that was followed in a day or so by Ayanna's announcement. Don't know if it could mean something else, or who and won't speculate, but it suggests another announcement might be coming.

So, it's ok for a regular student to transfer anytime, and it's ok for any coach to move anytime, just not players? I'm neither for or against, just throwing out some devil's advocate stuff. I'm also just happy that I was able to see some great things happen in my lifetime, because it looks pretty messy going forward.
How many coaches have coached at 4 different schools in a 4 year period? Pretty sure the answer is zero. This is apples and oranges. Or, do somewhere around 1/3 or more of coaches change their location every off season? Again, no way.

In regards to non athlete students transferring at will, did anyone expend time, energy and money recruiting them to a school, only to see them leave right away?

That might’ve been “94FeetWBB”. Skim only posts gifs publicly after she logs a commitment.

That person gets all their info from Skim’s Discord. As a member, she’s mentioned a couple names, but we aren’t allowed to speculate on UConn transfers. I can private message you if you’d like.

.-.
Washington lost 2 to the portal today--Chloe Briggs and Olivia Anderson. Both will be seniors, both not big producers. Briggs has been a rotational player, Anderson never has been. I think Olivia actually could be a nice front court option for a mid major team.

You can only imagine how big-name coaches will be knee-capping Geno in recruiting........the fact that Dawn said "she was going to kick Geno's ass" four times doesn't seem to matter to anybody in the sports media......

Happens with music students all the time. I lost students I had recruited and also transferred myself after a faculty member had invested time and energy and I had received substantial scholarship money.

Geno's voice carries great weight in WCBB. If he said something about this madness, NCAA might listen. They've allowed a situation to develop that is chaotic...and I don't know what can be done about it now but Geno might be the first step toward a return to common sense and some semblence of "normalcy".

There’s rumors floating she’s asking for her release

Does anyone know if it’s teammates, coach or money that’s driving these decisions at UT. Just really odd to see this. I think Vic is an excellent coach and has made Texas relevant again.

That's a world I know nothing about.

I went back and looked again and didn't see it on Skim, but did at 94 Feet WBB, so I think I got the sources mixed up. Sorry.

They steal their info from Skim so it’s probably on discord

There is a broken heart emoji in the second Geno post, which is 94 Feet WBB's symbol for a transfer out. 94 Feet used the same emoji in the other Geno post the other day before Ayanna announced her portal entry.

🤯

I really really wish they'd institute a one-year wait to play for transfers after the first. I get it that 16-17-year-old kids will make bad choices. (I was a teenage guy, believe me I resemble that remark.) But those kids should learn from those bad choices. If they want to transfer a second time, they should have to sit and bear the consequences. If I were a coach, there's no way I'd look at a kid who had already transferred twice unless there was a coaching change at her current school.

In addition to the post above about half the 2025 top-50 in the portal, Nan posted to the UConn board how many are in the portal from the P5. Back-of-the-envelope, it looks to me like a quarter of all P4 players have entered the portal. It's actually probably more like a third, as I didn't figure how many had graduated. It also looks like there are about ten schools that have lost all or almost all of their players.

It's not the NCAA that is doing this. The NCAA, colleges, coaches and fans all prefer the old system.

It's court decisions that have forced free transfer, pay for play, and NIL. The NCAA has had to react to the changes brought by successful player lawsuits.

Perhaps if Congress gets around to passing a "NCAA D1 Sports Law", order could once again be brought to the process.

If you want “order” then treat the players as employees and collectively bargain with them. That’s actually what the courts are saying. The NCAA and schools absolutely refuse to consider it, so this is the world we are forced to live in.

I don’t understand why people want to force athletes to give up their rights just so they can have “order”.

.-.
There's a world of difference in credibility between 94 Feet WBB and Skim.
94 Feet is who asked Dawn that highly embarrassing question about Saniyah Hall joining the wrong USC. Tried to find the “reporter’s” name but couldn’t.
