2026 Transfer portal

Didn’t get a lot of minutes, but will be a pretty good pickup. She was very instrumental in the Terps huge come from behind win at Minnesota.

These portal announcements are coming fast and furious now!

A South Bend native? Hmm 🤔

No. That's Not Happening.
The Reynolds father coached all three of his girls at Washington HS (home of Skylar Diggins and Jacqui Batteast) and there was never any serious interest between the sisters and ND and there are plenty of inferences that it was about the father who tried to package the two older daughters to Maryland and then Purdue.

He then had them...and the youngest and best -- got to UT Arlington. Guess what? He "joined" them, as assistant coach. After an 11-21 season, Kira is out the door. Hopefully, she'll go solo...otherwise, buyer beware.

ND will pursue help in the paint elsewhere unless there's been some very serious conversions done....

I personally would like to see Nunu have more opportunities to play as a Wing or Shooting Forward, because it's the only way she'll stick to a W roster as a pro. Unfortunately we went from having too much size (the year we had Brink, Kiki, and Lauren Betts), to none at all when one graduated and the other two transferred, and Nunu ending up having to play our 5 a LOT. She's got great instincts and muscle but she's GENEROUSLY 6'2" and doesn't have huge wingspan, but she's quick and a good shooter and I think would benefit from not having to be a team's first option in the paint.

And needless to say, obviously disappointing to see her go since she was part of our junior core. But she is getting her degree and I can't blame her for wanting to go someplace where she's playing for championships (even if conference) than praying even to get into the tournament at all..

BTW: Mary Ashley Stevenson has also entered the portal from Stanford, which is much more surprising to me:

Mary Ashley Stevenson played well as a frosh at Purdue. I was not surprised to see her transfer to The Farm because she went to an exceptional private high school in Manhattan. However, things didn't seem to work out for her on the court and her minutes seemed to be diminishing.

The Ivies do accept transfers. I wonder if she might go back east -- even to Manhattan -- to play for the WBIT champion Columbia Lions.

.-.
To quote John Mayer, why, Georgia, whyyyy?

Is Georgia the SEC version of Iowa State? (I say this fully recognizing Stanford is on the Brink of becoming the ACC version of Iowa State...)
but she didnt transfer?

Hasn’t Tennessee already taken taken that version

OK, gang. What's going on in Athens (Georgia)? They made the NCAA's for the first time since 2022 and now the team is hitting the exits? Coach? Lack of NIL? Some combination thereof? Any insights from our SEC brethren?

UCLA, Tennessee, and Iowa State need a lot of incomings.
The other is a mass exodus at Iowa State and Tennessee! I can’t see what’s going on at either one of the places but those kind of things usually happen because of the coach.

.-.
This season's transfer portal just seems totally out of control when compared to past portals. So much attention is being placed, rightly so, on the portal this season, especially with programs like Tennessee and Iowa State.

Honestly lost track of all the Georgia players going into the portal. Say a prayer for all the WBB admins that have to start entering this stuff Monday morning.

Australian Fr. Sienna Harvey reportedly leaving Washington. Didn't play much, a bit turnover prone, but showed a knack for scoring when she did get on the court. Somebody might be getting themselves a sparkplug type of player.

.-.
Well, there was a mutual “ parting of the ways” with Coach Abe

Well, the timing of my question was right....I asked on Friday night and the university announces she's gone on Saturday.
Of course, the question goes around the chicken or the egg? What did she do (or perhaps the university didn't do...have a small NIL pool) to reach a "mutually agreed upon leaving"? Maybe this will come out, but it's really odd.

Isn't it odd for players to be announcing their intentions to transfer out even before (24 hours) the departure of their head coach is announced? Maybe it doesn't matter. They obviously knew what was coming.

Guess there's no point in waiting until a head coaching replacement has been hired with the portal opening in like 2 days. Might as well start finding out which other schools have an interest in you. If some of them love Georgia and the new hire, they can always withdraw their name from the portal. It certainly will make the new head coach's job a lot harder to retain players when they already have one foot out the door, if not both, by the time they meet the new head coach.
