He was a football tight end with offers to some P4 schools and decided to focus on just basketball. He was the #36th ranked player for basketball in the 2026 class but reclassified to Seton Hall. He was a huge feather in Shaheen's cap getting him to come to Seton Hall but he only played him 18 minutes per game and didn't run things through him nearly enough. He's big and physical, lost some of his baby fat and moves really well for his size. He can score around the hoop pretty well and is tough to keep off the offensive glass. Great defender who led the league in blocked shots and can get some blocks at the top of the box despite being heavy and a little undersized height wise, 7'2 wingspan.

You sold me.

Would love to get Hines. But if we can't, really hope PItino does not.

It’s funny, I’ve been watching the games on mute for so long I have absolutely no recollection of this kid Hines or what he’s all about. Can’t even recall hearing the name before.
Thought he ended the season very well. He wouldn’t be my first choice for a big but I think matching his strength/beef with Reibe’s finesse and offensive potential would work well

Things I don't like is he's kind of short for a center and he's not a major leaper, not earthbound at all but won't be any kind of major lob threat like Samson. He's also kind of foul prone but that's to be expected from a freshman big.

Things I do like is he's physical and will go through guys to dunk it, he's really hard to keep off fhe offensive glass and his defense and motor are awesome.

I want him and if he goes to St. John's instead of us he'll terrorize us.

Shaheen probably wouldn't have been able to keep him anyways but he didn't use him enough, the kid is good.

Well said.

Were they bigger than us up front? Yes. Did we have several different ways to win this game regardless? Yes. Did size have anything whatsoever to do with those things not happening? Nope.

It was only Mara who we had no answer for - and from what I watched this season, we also made his life harder than almost anyone else.
That size got them 2 foot layups and 25 made foul shots. Also a lot of blocks on us and shot changes. Yes we could have won had we made shots, but we need 2 strong and tall players at PF and C.

If Diop has a Do Not Contact, he's not coming here. We weren't on any of the lists I saw for him. Too bad, he would fill the greatest need and to me, was the best bigman portal guy for us.

Multiple times this year, hurley was in disbelief how bad the 3 point shooting was. Hence post game against duke when he said his own assistants wouldn't give the stats! Hurley seemed resigned in post game vs Michigan by saying we didn't make enough shots. Im sure he was aware they missed 21 3 point shots. He bit his tongue post game, didn't blame the kids for missing, but after the duke game and missing 21 3 pointers against Michigan, the look on his face almost said that he wished he coached the game differently. Duke/Michigan games were horrible from 3. Almost feels like Hurley was blaming himself for way to many 3 point attempts, especially when for 2 games they weren't dropping. Well maybe next year!
160th in the country in 3 pt shooting, about as average as it gets. When you have a system built around getting quality 3pt looks, you need a roster that is better than a C at shooting them. The issue with recruiting for shooters is that if they don't actually shoot it that well, then you're stuck with what we got out of Solo this year.

We shot it 67 in 2023, 78 in 2024 and 131 last year. So from a % basis, our worst shooting team in last 4 years.

Surprised its taken someone this long to mention him. I love his game.
His list is actually pretty weak - maybe the market doesn't see him as quite the player he was coming out of HS. He was incredibly unathletic the bit I saw him.

OK, time to stay on topic.

This guy also said Kadary Richmond was returning back in the day to Seton Hall so he may be talking out of his behind...

you mean you knew your argument was flawed?
slightly flawed, you look like a chooch when you do that no matter what the front of your jersey says. loved the boatshow but didnt like when he would do that. Also lets not forget everyone on this site is old with sports glory behind them, making flawed statements in public is why were here😁

He’s not a prototypical UConn player over the last few years- I would stay away- would think Hurley will do the same.

I hope Pitino's tallest player is 5'4" and that he's fat and can't shoot.

What part of “on topic” lost you guys?

UConn interest only. The thoughts rolling around your heads can go elsewhere.
